Everyone wants the short beds. thats why they are not on the lots. Long beds are not as popular.

Sorry smitty but I have to disagree with you on this one. If you configure a LB with 5' tube steps and some nice AT ko2 or nittos, with TRD wheels, and a nice bed top you would have a nice looking truck

Thanks for the heads up Jason. So other dealers should have the allotments also!

Christopher - do you know if the prices will be similar to the 2016 when it first came out? Did the dealer give you a price of the build before you put down a deposit?

How much deposit does one have to put down? And is the deposit loss if the customer doesn't purchase the car?

I feel like the long bed would be more popular if they made it available with a stick. I bet atleast half of the people with a stick 3rd gen would have got a long bed if it were an option. I know i probably would have already jump on one of it were.

I had put 1000 down (refundable) on a 16, that they told me they could no longer get. The dealer said he would honor the price we had already negotiated on the 16, so I'm not sure about 17 pricing yet. The salesman indicated it would normally be within a few hundred so he wasn't concerned and would rather have my business.

Everything I wanted on the 16 is on the 17. Build looks the same.

My price for the 16 was 500 over invoice. Said they would match the price we already agreed upon, so I might be even closer to invoice on the 17 if there is any price change.

the 5' shortbed can't fit my surfboards (not interested in a bed extender....THOSE are ugly imo) and perhaps more importantly, can't camp out of a 5' bed. I've got no issue with the short bed but long bed has way more utility for people that want to use it for truck purposes. And sure I could get a tundra or other bigger truck....but tacomas are awesome. DCLB is the best on offer for my needs / wants. my 2 cents :)

I agree, longer the bed, more useful the truck, i just wish you could get a dclb in a stick.

Wait but the long bed is always ugly
The bed extender is only needed on occassion. You don't drive everywhere 100% of the time with your surfboards.

I paid between 1000 and 1500 over invoice....not sure without digging up the paper work again...I felt it was worth it as the dealer and sales person under promised and certainly over delivered....no other dealer in the central MD area was willing to go the extra mile like Hanover Toyota did. He worked his a$$ off to get the options I wanted at a time when finding the BBP TRD Sport DCLB with the JBL premium pkg was tough to find.

I wonder if they are changing the grilles on the 17s.
