Yes I did, filled out all the info and my info was sent to the dealer. The dealer contacted me and I went by when I had time only to find out that what I'm looking for is not part of the program. I am also looking to replace my wife's 2015 VW Passat TDi (because of the TDi scandal stuff going on) and we are looking at a 4Runner or Camry. They told me the 4Runner was not part of the program either but the Camry was.

Probably a regional thing. I checked costco first and no tacoma was part of their discount program.

Just start emailing dealers fleet departments asking for invoice pricing on the truck you're looking for. Sounds like you're looking for the truck I bought only in an off road. I got mine for around $2500 under msrp out of state.

Sam's Club is not Costco, not even close. The Costco price, at least what I paid, was $150 over invoice. Memberships are $55, spend the money on a membership, join the auto buying service and wait for a Costco dealer to contact you. It's truly as simple as that...

    Except for when it isn't.
Make sure you know your projected invoice price, ask to see the invoice, etc.

Don't let them add in bogus fees like the previously mentioned "ordering fee", additional dealer markup, etc.

Alright I know it's not Costco but the dealer offered the following. It's a 2017 though, is this a good deal?

    2017 DCSB 4x2 SR5 4cyl
    $26,469 before tax (6.5%)
    3-4 mo wait though

All in would bearound $28,000 with tax and everything.

    SR, right? Not SR5?

don't get caught up in the who paid what game. Life is too short for that. As long as you like the dealer, and they treat you well, don't chase that magical $500 lower than what some stranger in the internet paid game.

Contact the internet manager through email of about 25 different dealerships. Tell them what you are looking for and tell them what you want to pay. See who bites.

It's an SR5. I'm trying to not get too caught up in price, but I don't want to over pay by $1000 or more. It includes the cheaper appearance package ($650) so according to the invoice price thread it should be $25,325 [assuming full retail paid on the appearance package] so I'm paying $1,144 over invoice but its the 2017 so I assume its the $300 price increase so I'm paying $844 over invoice?

So I guess thats a good deal after all, especially for the gulf coast?

Edit: Or are you saying they are not offering the SR5 w/ a 4cyl in 2017?

you don't have your location listed in your profile. There were no dealerships in my area offering the Tacoma through the Costco service when I looked. They had Carollas, Camrys, Rav4s, etc.

It's truly not as simple as that...

To those who cannot use Costco in their area, just email every internet department within 500 miles of you and ask about the truck you want. Give them specifics on color, packages, options, model, etc.

Internet departments care about future sales. Sales people on the floor are only interested in selling vehicles NOW.

Toyota of the Desert in Cathedral City will give you 500 under MSRP for any Tacoma that the internet department orders or holds for you.

You may want to contact the Costco Auto Program, Member Advocacy Group. If you are not satisfied with the dealer Costco had you contact, they will assist you with finding another Costco dealer. Just provide the zip code where you want to look and they will give you the name of the dealer to contact. The following is from one of my correspondence with Costco:

"We would not be able to provide specifics about the savings as they vary between make and model and so does it vary between regions. There is a different market for a suburban area vs say a rural area and so the savings will reflect that change in market. Unfortunately we would not be able to provide specific pricing information since there are many factors that affect the savings. We can refer you to a location in Arizona for the Tacoma if you can provide us with a zip code I can provide you with a location in that area that participates and you are welcome to inquire about CAP savings. You are welcome to discuss pricing but be aware some dealers have policies against it and we cannot mandate they share the information over the phone or via email. Feel free to email a zip code or to call and will be more than happy to refer you to one of our participating dealers."
