Searched tips and tricks for help with this but not there. Maybe someone has figured this out or maybe there's no solution. Here is my problem. I am safety conscience and like to drive with my headlights on. But when in the daytime, and the lights are on, the radio is so dim you can hardly see it. When you turn the lights off, the radio is bright enough to see again. Is there a way to drive with headlights and have the radios back screen brightly lit? Has anyone else noticed this?

Have you tried increasing the brightness with the knob on the gauge cluster?

The radio has only one knob off on and volume. I tried adjusting everything knob or thingie that would move on the dash and arms on the column. I am not smart about hi tech things. Thought maybe there could be a way to change or adjust the screen lighting by going in through the menu of the ethune radio or whatever it's called.

Nothing fancy, yet. Weathertech mats front/back + their mud guards, some reflective striping and custom carpets on the storage bin lids underneath the jump seats.
Twist the pin-like knob that resets your trip meter clockwise in a "starting the truck like fashion": Twist. Stop. Twist. Stop.
It doesn't rotate like a volume knob, etc...
That increases the instrument light brightness. Counter-clockwise dims it.

I have tried this and noticed dash lights did change, but I don't think the radio display did. I will try again tomorrow, now I know I have to twist the knob again and again. Thanks hope this works?

I think the radio screen has its own brightness setting in the menu somewhere...

I was waiting on a search & rescue result* call and decided to go out to the truck and see if I could find the display illumination control.
Try this if you haven't already.
    Apps (dash button)
    The rest are touch screen

    * A hiker had set out in a local state park without enough daylight left to reach a distant waterfall, got turned around because he left the trail & had no map, flashlight or hiking gear of any kind. They found him about 40 minutes ago, safe & sound - this time.

I was able to find and adjust st the brightness all the way up on the mechanical knob, and through this radio menu, but it made no difference to the screens brightness, when the lights were pulled on in the day time. During the day with not cloudy skies, you can't hardly see the screen with the lights on. Turn lights off in the day and the screen is bright as can be. If there is a way to have it as bright with the lights on during the day, I would like to hear about it. Even if it would involve a hard wire fix, I think it would be worth it. My truck is white and feel that it is not seen as well as the darker colors. The daytime running lights I know helps a lot but would like to have full lights on. Thanks for your continued help in this. Is there another venue that I could consult with for perhaps more help.

My radio doesn't dim if I manually turn on the lights. It only dims when the lights turn on automatically

When the lights are on, go to the home screen, press the gear button on the top right, go to display and there's a button that says day mode. Check it and it'll be as bright as when the lights are off!

The hard wire fix you are looking for is the illumination wire. Typically an orange wire in a stereo harness. It is the wire that tells the stereo when your headlights are on or not. Never messed with one on a stock stereo but i know on aftermarket radios if the illumination wire is hooked up the screen will dim when the headights are on and brighten when off, if not connected the screen will always be bright, you probably would not be happy at night though, bright screens are very distracting.

    1. Thank you, the fix you suggested about the day time lights did the trick, I am very appreciative. And the the hard wire fix would have worked to if a toggle switch could be put in the circuit,

Just in case you missed it.
You can have your DRLs and your normal head lights on and still have the radio brightness all on at the same time.

If I missed it I really missed it. I just did the fix with changing to day time light setting. If this what you mean I'm good. Otherwise I hope you clarify what I missed exactly, thank you.

I think he was quoting it for any future readers so they know the solution. You should edit Post #1 to include that info for future readers as well.

You might regret that change at night now...(too bright??) I use the DTRL and the parking lights, so It allows me to turn on my Hyper yellow fogs during the day...

Much more visible than just the DTRL's...
