Sorry but to me that looks like a bad patch job compared to others I have seen. I would complain. Compare to the red hood a few posts up.

Agree with this. That is what my truck looked like the 1st time they tried to fix it. I made them send it back. I pick mine up later today as I made them give me some accessories since it took 7 days after the first failed attempt. There is a kit for this now. I will post pics of my truck later today after I pick it up.

Thank you for the write up and pictures! I just bought a used 2010 TRD and it is separating in most of the glued locations. Freaked me out the first time a semi passed going the other direction. Turning the rubber stops to extend them helps with vibration a little bit, but this technique will help wonders, I'm sure.

The 1st attempt they tried to use spray foam which had over spray everywhere. Sent that back and they just cleaned up over spray but still looked like garbage. Sent back again and provided this thread to my advisor and they finally got it right. While it was a pain in the arse, i didnt feel like i should have to spend my own money or time to fix. I raised a ruckus for them jerking me around and got them to install a bed step for free ($300).

Nice work! Allot off dealers, techs, and service advisors don't know their product and you need to be your own advocate to get stuff done. Raise hell and cause a scene! It's gets shit done!:angrygirl:

Did they have to repaint the entire hood or just the underside? Damn I would not want a repainted hood on the top on my brand new truck. That is no better than getting it back from a fuckin wreck!

Some people have low standards. Others expect better for $35 to 40k

I've got lost in the thread. I'm trying to address my auto trans, 'howling' control arms and vibrating hood. I have TSB #'s for the transmission and control arms. I haven't found the TSM or kit# for the hood - any help on that would be appreciated.

There's no TSB. Just take it in and complain

That's why I fixed mine myself before it got too bad. Used a product specified by my manufacturer for similar issues.

So my hood has fluctuations limited to the center area when going >55mph, it is something I note especially if it is sunny and glare is on the hood... I would like a fix if its available and competent people serving otherwise just having it annotated would provide some peace of mind.
The howling control arm TSB I want to have done as a 'forcing function' to have toyota fix something that really should never have been my problem and having people perform those TSBs will hopefully bring attention to detail.
The transmission TSB hopefully will work out the quirks that make me regret getting my first auto in several years....

That's one approach. If all of the folks who either ignore it, live with it, or fix it themselves were to push on Toyota and put their feet to the fire, hold them accountable to fix this shit I think we would see a bit more urgency from Toyota. I highly encourage folks to make a case with their dealer and toyota corporate for these issues. There's no reason in the world we should be accepting of low standards and poor quality for a vehicle that is brand new and costs this hard earned cash in amounts up to and exceeding $40k in some instances. /rantoff

Just the underside of the hood. Coat of blue and clear. Can't even tell it was painted.

Mine goes into big two Monday morning to be dropped off for 3 days.

But, I should be able to get the hood fixed (hopefully looks this nice), transmission tab, and control arm tsb all in those 3 days.

Big Two didn't bat an eye at scheduling this to fix the hood. Knew exactly what I was talking about, didn't even request pics or video, and they haven't seen the truck yet.

2,000 miles on my DCLB OR, hood vibrating noticeably at moderate speed. This one goes on the list along with the tranny shifting issues.
