I said something yesterday too. Off trail is no bueno! Most all the razors I saw yesterday were behaving so that was cool

 

I am impressed by the bike control, especially in the steeper sections.

And I wish I could regear that easily.

 

Thanks Mike. I definitely took to the dirt bike pretty quick. All the mountain biking I do lent a hand in the transition. It's right up my alley and I love making the bike do what I want to do.

Yea a regear on the bike takes 15 min. Lol

 

Looks great Marc. Wish I had some trails around with those views.

The trails we ride I do with street tires so imagine the added difficulty!

It's the whole reason I got a dirt bike, ...other than because I'm a motor head. Love what you can get to quickly on one.

Yea tires make a world of difference. Even just changing tires a few weeks ago to a new different set that are more geared to rocks and roots was crazy nice. I can't imagine riding trail with a street tire... at least at a faster pace.

 

Shout out to @Gadget@URD for sending me a redesigned passenger side header to hopefully fix the rubbing issue.

By the way is your YZ running? I need to make it up to see ya this summer! I've only ever driven through Sheridan so I wouldn't mind meeting up, gettn the tacos out and the bikes and camp somewhere. Oh and maybe a ride in the scoob

Yeah its up and running, I've been up on the mountain a few times already. Red Grade is awesome though, literally 10 minutes from my house. We could easily spend a long weekend up there exploring all the trails and scoping stuff out on the bikes. I'm hoping to have the truck fully functional in less than a month so we can definitely arrange something!

Yup haha always been a Honda guy. Although a new YZ is quite appealing since they're the only Japanese company building 2 strokes anymore.

 

Yamaha knows motors that's for sure. I'd like to test ride a yz250x. The stiff moto x fork and shock on my 250 sx (even though theyre revalved for more enduro focused riding) make me wish i had a plush ride like an enduro focused 250x from yammy or an xcw from kato for the trail riding. But when i do get to open it up the stiff forks are awesome on the higher speed stuff. Cant have it all i guess. I've been super impressed with the 250sx with what it's got on it.

Dirt bikes are interesting to me since theyre so damn pricey new but you can get one thats older and treated decent for cheap and still beat the shit out of it and have a great time. Have to be crazy to buy a brand new dirt bike if i were me... ha

I just started looking through this thread after getting sucked n by the 295s, I was wondering if you ever got a chance to flex it out and see what kind of trimming you had to do? Trying to decide if it's worth to go that big and lose that much plastic.

 

Yea had a spirited run in crawl mode a week back down a trail thats a blast in 4lo 5th gear. When I near the last inch of travel I eat the top of the fender a bit but it's not enough to really warrant getting the snippers out for. Full steering lock and stuff is a different story. Back of the fenders get munched pretty good. But it's easily fixed by taking a half inch where it hits from the fender. I'll try to get pics of what I end up trimming

 

That's no joke. My bike is a 98 and it gets the job done just fine and dandy. All it's quirks makes riding that much more interesting, and it makes you a better rider in my opinion.

Have you played around with the clickers at all on your forks and rear shock? That made a nice difference on mine. Now it's like riding on the broad side of a 2x4 instead of the skinny side

 

The new WR450F though....

If the dirt bike is stock I'm all for used. I don't trust what other people have done after seeing some peoples bikes.
