The 4 runner had the V8 option from 2003 to 2009 as well.

 

Or have them wired in so your map lights come on too when you open a door. Or the radio stay on tell you open the door......

 

Or a fuse block....

 

The comforts are nice but not needed. I'm mostly interested in something that is properly powered, which Toyota doesn't do anymore.

Dont like the looks of them, and most are not fond of that particular v8. I'd be all over the newer 4runners, but I've known quite a few people that got them only to get rid of them a short time later for something with power. Usually the newer Lexus SUV or another brand.

 

It will only get worse with Gov't regulation on MPG. Currently it is fleet wide based but soon each vehicle must meet it.

 

There were 2 V8's in the 4runner. After 2005 it was the VVTI version which was the same V8 as the GX. But if you don't like the look of the 4th Gen then I can't help you there.

Our 2003 has the older V8. We have had no issues with it other then standard maintenance.

 

One more reason to go explore other parts of the world!

 

When I was in S. Africa in May, they got nothing but Hilux and LC, all diesel equipped! And having a RHD vehicle is wacky. I am making another trip next year if anyone wants to save up and tag along. Food and Housing will be covered. Just be up to date on vaccination, password and $$fare.

Hell yeah. I planned on getting overseas this year and ended up doing a lot of exploring around here instead. But I'd be up for traveling. Moving out of the US is looking more and more like a when, not if with every passing day.
