Grinding from the muffler? or is it rubbing? or is it more of a rattle sound?

So it's probably vibrating back and forth and hitting something. I don't know without looking at it. I guess just try to see where it's closest to something.

Maybe that's when the engine vibrates the most. I know this is totally different but on my lawn mower there is a flap over the hopper that vibrates at idle but doesn't any other time. I guess engines have certain rpms that they put out the most vibration.

Awesome! What suspension were you looking at? A new exhaust would solve your problem most likely:) Until then a big hammer could probably bend it back.

I wasn't saying it's the engine that's rattling. I'm thinking that that rpm range is when the engine is the least smooth and puts out the most vibration. Kind of like if you hold a chainsaw and it vibrates in your hands more at certain rpms. And this vibration is causing the muffler to rattle against something. I could be totally far off but from what I hear this is my best bet.

Yeah it was 19 degrees on the flight line this morning and than add the 10 knot wind... it was freezing. oh and than the heat on the plane didnt work until we took off. It was below freezing inside the plane the whole time we were preflighting today!!!
