I have an appointment for mine on Thursday. If nothing else I want to have it documented in case there is a TSB or if I run into issues later.

It's definitely worse in hotter weather. It's been in the 90's here and it's worse than when it was cooler, although it may just be mileage catching up to me.

It is obvious that this issue is simply there for some and not for others. I have driven the crap out of mine in all the situations where this is supposed to show up (hot weather, long pulls at highway speeds, etc, etc) with not a sign of it. Good luck to those with the issue. I hope Toyota steps up to fix this shit.

I posted a while back, probably when I had approximately 800 miles on mine, that I had this issue. I think it may have fixed itself in some way, because I haven't had the issue in about 1.5k miles now (at 4000). My problem appeared to be faint compared to a few of you guys. I would only get stuck in gear in low RPM ranges, about 1100 to 1500, when trying to save some fuel driving on flat ground. Maybe me yanking it out of gear a few times in the past resolved the problem for me. Hopefully posting this won't jinx me

Well I called some Toyota regional managers and Toyota corporate for like the 20th time and still they say they have never heard of the problem, even though the guy on here said he talked to someone who said engineer figured out the problem...

The 2 times it happened to me it was in 95+ degree weather after a bit of stop and go driving.

I also opened up a case with Toyota regarding my concerns. If you catch any crap from the dealership you take it to, like I did today, you can call them up and have that documented in the case notes as well.

I just got back from the dealer with mine. They could not replicate the problem (d'oh) but they did find an item in their TSB reference library about it.

They are performing TSB Fix TSB-0088-16 next week for me after ordering the parts. Unfortunately I didn't get a copy of the TSB but I'm hoping a member on here who works at a dealer can snag one. From what I could read upside down while my advisor was filling out my paperwork it's a ball detent and it applies to trucks that cannot shift out of 5th and 6th after extended drives.

    I will keep everyone updated.

That's strange... other memebers were saying it was the shift shafts i have already had the detents messed with and had nothing to do with the problem. please oh please I hope they are not jerking us around again trying to look at other things...

Why do I get the feeling they are trying to "try" another fix that only masks the problem.

(shrugs) I guess all I can do is get the TSB done and see what happens from there.

I wish I could get ahold of the text from that TSB to see what it entails. If it doesn't solve the problem, I'll go back. It's documented at this point, so that's a good thing. I was so frustrated that they couldn't replicate the issue. I drove it 30 minutes on the highway prior to dropping it off and could get it to do it with regularity but the 10-15 minutes I waited for them to get the paperwork started was enough to cool it off to get it to not cause the issue.

For me it's a full hour, I have a feeling this isn't the actual fix.

I have the same issue but the service adviser refuses to send someone out to drive the truck for that amount of time to attempt to replicate the issue.

Thanks for post the TSB number. Now I have something to provide as evidence for there being a known potential issue.

I went away this weekend to Cherokee North Carolina. Went through Gatlinburg coming back hairpin curves 20 mile per hour, went to downshift would not go into gear. Had to slam on brakes, this occurred in three separate corners. That was driving about 100 miles. Got on interstate had hard shifting down but at about another 75 miles tried to downshift an upshift going up and down mountains had to force into gears NOW THIS HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE !!! Dropped truck off at Dealer tonight with a nice long note. All mileages and occurrences documented on the letter I gave them. Had to let you guys know what was going on

Nope. Two dealers test drove it but couldn't replicate the issue because it takes many hours on the road before mine acts up. Since I'm not going on any road trips in the near future, I'm tackling my trucks issues in the order of annoyance.

It's getting a new differential just as soon as the part comes in.
