Finally, tunes worthy of the Taco. It damn near kills women and small children, it rocks. Here are some pics of the progress so far. A few of the deadening courtesy of Sam at Sound Deadener Showdown. I did the whole truck, roof, floor, doors, and back wall.

    The set up is:

Eclipse HU, with Ipod Interface in glove box
    Focal Comps up front.
PPI Comps, set up coax, the the rear.
    JL 13TW5 sub.
Memphis MCD500 and 16MCA3004 for juice.

I made the box and rack. And just to blow my own horn, WITHOUT a table saw, just a circular saw. Yes I cursed and yelled, but in the end, worth every pissed off second. Still need to trim it up and glass it to make it look pretty. Right now just bones.

    Enjoy Boys and Girls!

First layer is CCF, Closed Cell Foam.

Second layer is the MLV, Mass Loaded Vinyl

Here is the back wall deadened up. I ended up cutting off the brackets for the right storage bin, also the car seat anchors on that side as well. As my sub box was too precise of a fit.

Here is the Eclipse deck. The Dash kit that was "verified" as correct for my application, didn't allow my face to open and receive CDs. So I removed off part of the cubby to allow for the fold down. Looks like I chewed it off, but it was hard to get the dremel in there, HAHAHA

Here is the sib box and the amp rack, crossovers are on the reverse side of the amps. The sub is the JL 13TW5 13.5", Memphis Power.

Great work! Looks like you deadened very close to what I did. Are you happy with the way it turned out? I know I was.

How do you like the new setup?

I deadened the whole truck, just didn't pic it all, too busy to stop for more pics. The difference is night and day, can't even hear rain on the roof. At all, the only noise comes through the windows. I had a Lincoln Town Car way back, the truck is more quiet.

Still dialing in with the gains and crossovers, right now it sounds great. I ended up with the JL after much research and conversations with other enthusiasts and professionals, I believe I made the right choice.

Looking forward to finishing the build off for a cleaner look, funds are squeezing me right now.

Yes, Crown Royal is imperative to any upgrade or modification process.

I still remember when all I had was my Dewalt circular saw and I made boxes all the time. Man that took SO much more time. I totally feel ya.

Definitely wasted time, the set up took more than the cutting and building. Should've just went and acquired one. I will have one for the next project.

    Appreciate it,

What would you like to see? or if you have questions let me know. If there is something I have access to I could take some. I didn't take too many due to time constraints, but when I get to building the finish pieces and remove stuff, I will snap some.

Here is a trick to get the wires through the elephant trucks between the doors.

Used a broken down Bic pen!

Good job! I'm in the middle of my install as well, just waiting on the headunit.

Which happens to be an Eclipse 7200, which operates the same as yours I think. So your issue with the dash kit has me worried. Did you get the metra kit? That's the one I have in my closet waiting to be installed...

Eclipse all the way, Great Choice that is a sweet HU. I almost got that one. I had the 8445 deck and traded it in with my old truck, mistake.

Yes, I have the Metra, which I was told would not be a problem. So when I had it wired in and ready to install, and I quote "WTF is this?!?!" Since I am running mostly Ipod I didn't care at first, then I received a CD for xmas, and $#%^$.

So yesterday I remedied the situation. A dremel will do or if you are handy with a utility knife. I did not want to tear it all apart, so I fabricated mine in the dash, which resulted in a sub par result. If I removed or cut it before hand it would have been MUCH better. Anyways, I am on the look out for a reverse Metra style, one with the cubby on top.

So, if you want to, go ahead and cut out 3/4" deep the whole width of the cubby and hit the corners a little piece, and it will work.

Thanks. That really sucks though, I'm not to happy about having to do this. I looked at the schoshe (SP?) kit and it's got the same look, so you'd have to do it with that to.

I thought I have seen a kit before that fits our trucks that had the cubby on top?

The Metra looks like it is the easier of the two to modify. Like I said if you do it before you install, unlike the jackass telling you, it will be just fine, it actually looks good. If I ever take it down I would refine a bit then spary paint that section to reveal nothing. Since you have the time I would do exactly that. Still looking around, I think Scosche is a no go.

That should be a great sounding set up, wish I could hear it when it is done.

From your pictures it looks like you didn't use a butyl based vibration dampener (i.e. Damplifier, Dynamat, Raamat, etc.). Am I missing something? What is the reasoning behind the setup you chose?

I did, and I used a butyl rope to jam between the crash bars in and the outer door skin as well. I used butyl tiles about 6"x10", 62 total, each in different locations. I did not cover the entire area as, per the instructions from Don. I will get a pic up later.

Here are some CLD Tile pics on one of the doors, back wall, and the roof.
