if i was going to do this, i would blackout everything.... the marker light, the directional light, the reflector bowl and even the shroud. idk how well painting the shroud would go over though. i can't seem to find black shrouds either. hmmm?

^ well 1BlkT wanted it as painted, so thats what he gets!!

painting the shroud shouldnt be any different than painting the rest. im personally going use smoked 2010 lights for mine, removing the orange lense and using a clear blinker lenses. i think your right though, i've never seen black shrouds, they are all chrome or silver.

its a hard cream colored plastic w/ what appears to be a metal coating. you can email matt at theretrofitsource.com and ask him the exact materials if you need to.

^ the reason i ask is because i would media blast everything that i would be painting. i did that with the set of headlights that i bhlm'ed for myself and for my buddy. may seem overkill, but i believe that the paint sticks better to the plastic itself than the chrome.

oh, thats seems like a very good idea. i know i have to be extremely careful w/ the painted chrome when doing a BHLM. so i know your right that paint will stick better than to the chrome.

what media did you use? at work we have a powder and a bead blast. wondering if the bead blast would be too much or if the powder blast would even work to strip the chrome. what say you?!

the first set of headlight i didn't media blast. the paint didn't stick very well and caused some problems. i obtained a set of used lights, but almost in perfect condition, really cheap. decided to media blast the second set. the media that i used was a middle grade glass bead. i had to be very careful though. had to keep the gun the perfect distance away or it would burn the plastic.... i found this out because i did the same process on a set of emblems before i did the headlights. media blasting helped the paint tremendously. had no problems after that. the second set of headlights i media blasted, i didn't waste the time to peel all the chrome off. just roughed the chrome up and took a fine grade sandpaper just to clean things up quick. once painted you can't even tell i media blasted it. looks like i painted right over the chrome.

So since I'm a wiring retard  what is it that I'm going to need to install these? I don't have the slightest clue how to hook up electrical stuff in all honesty. I paid the local automotive shop to hook up my hella's behind my grille :smack:. Any sort of connectors or wiring do I need to get?

yea, this guy called dibs, haggled a bunch on price, then left me high and dry...all of a sudden spent all the money on wheels a day later...

this is why i hate dibs, he calls it, others think the stuff is gone, then he bails and im left w/ the product and put off buyers...my hatred for dibs is proven perfectly in this situation!!

money talks, "dibs" walks... pm me if your truely interested and we can work something out. but know that if im shown money, that person (whether they called dibs or not) gets the produts.

on a happier note, i'll be installing these light tonight and will post some pics...
