I hate traffic that's why I took the day off and went camping up at Jedediah state park with the family and brought a 12 pack of Pliny.

I like AleSmiths IPA and Sculptin IPA. But my go to will always be Lagunitas IPA. A lot of breweries are trying to go over the top right now and I find they just end up missing the target completely. We had a tasting the other day and about 75% of them were no bueno.

In IPA's, I like Deschutes fresh squeezed IPA, any of the Sierra 'Harvest' series. Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA is quite good, so is North Coast Steller IPA (named after the Steller Seal, not 'stellar' as in stars). Coronado makes some nice IPAs. Stone's regular IPA is pretty good, but I've not been so fond of their 'enjoy by' series.

But even more, I like hoppy ambers/porters that have more roasted malt than a straight IPA... red and black IPAs are awesome. Stone's Arrogant Bastard is basically a red IPA. Good stouts are favorites, too, like North Coast Old Rasputin and Old No. 38, Deschutes Obsidian Stout, Lost Coast 8-Ball Stout. Drakes makes a bunch of good brews, like Black Robusto, Denogginizer. Sierra Nevada makes an excellent stout, too although its not carried as widely as their other brews. Lagunitas' red strong ales have often been too toxic for me, taste like headache juice, they seem to go skunky or musky really fast.

my defacto go-to beer is, however, good old Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. not too strong, nice fresh flavor.

I did a VIP Lagunitas brewery tour last December, it was a total shit show. Was grabbing 40ozs of Lagunitas Sucks off the bottling line. I ended up reuniting with my breakfast, lunch, and dinner by the time the night was over!

Pliny the elder and Deschutes fresh squeezed are my 2 favorites that I always keep in my beer fridge along with 4 metric tons of Coors light

Some good calls here, funny how different folks/different palette's though. I am right in like with your call on Deschutes Fresh Squeezed, it's one of my favorites, as well as your take on Lagunitas "headache juice" I feel like all their beers have a hair too much sugar, even their hoppier options like Hop Stoopid end up with a sweeter finish than I'd prefer.

But then, I really must disagree on Speakeasy and Sierra Nevada. I really do not care for either! For me it's the straight dirt flavored bitter aftertaste that coats the tongue after a sip, I can't stand it. I love a clean finishing IPA like most of the stuff from Knee Deep tends to be... Anywho...

My "go to can't miss never keep the fridge without em" beers are Racer 5, Pliny, and in the colder months Velvet Merlin from Firestone Walker.

    Cheers :)

I keep getting the Lagunitas Lil' Sumpin', it quenches my hops needs.
But I really enjoy Altamont beer works in Livermore. They got a nice rotation weekly and all their stuff is good. I also had a nice double IPA (double tap)from berryessa brewing company up in winters. Their brewery is fat, like 50 picnic tables and food trucks on weekends. Great place for get together.

You all with hoppy beers! I've never been able to get used to them, the only hoppy beer I can drink more than half is Pliny the Elder. For the most part I'm a cheap light beer kind of guy.

Estrella is probably my favorite import and Coors for domestic. :crapstorm:

I tried this beer at a burger spot and liked it. I didn't know the brewery was down the road from me.
