Need to read about people that have actually towed with the 3RD gen not just read the specs...this in the towing section..
So i towed my boat 200 miles down to the keys to catch some lobster. I took the high way there and got around 7.5 mpg going around 70mph. On the way back i took us41 and got 10mpg averaging around 55-60mph. the boat and trailer weighs around 4300lbs loaded. plus the 4 200 lb guys in the truck. If the truck had more power it would of been a effort less tow. The lack of tq really shows even on flat florida roads at highway speeds.

Want a link to the great towing reviews.
At gas $1.80ish who gives a hoot. Spent $2 extra dollars ?
Most people DON'T tow at 70 mph with 4300 pounds and 800 pounds of passengers in a Taco less any other vehicle. Unsafe.

I want a link to the great towing threads also.....are not any good threads towing anywhere near the max......think his point was not a good experience for that amount of weight...which by the way was no where near 6800lb

I wouldn't worry about the fuel costs as much as I'd worry about the truck huffing and puffing as it struggles to do the job. If I'm pulling a boat, ATV trailer, etc you better believe I'm cruising along at 70 MPH... if I'm driving a truck that is cut out for the job.

Seen it...... I am talking about people on this or on any forum that have towed with it and thought it was great...hell I can get the link showing a Tundra pulling the space shuttle...which proves nothing.....by the way what is your real world towing experience.... I am betting zero experience

Huffing and puffing is your perception of high rpm. What is the engineering equivalent of huff and puff ?

So Formula 1 race cars at 12- 18,000 rpm don't have torque and are pos.
    Got it.

Blah. Tow ratings are a joke. 6800 lbs is a heavy load even for a half ton full size. No way would I subject a mid-size truck to that kind of stress. My 2002 is rated to tow 5,000 and driving pulling 2500 lbs on anything other than flat land is a major PITA.

'Huffing and puffing' is my perception of a truck struggling to get out of its own way and constantly hunting gears in order to pull a load. If you're comfortable with that more power to you...Tacoma, F1 car, whatever.

When on the city streets I'm cautious because of well who know what will jump out in front of you, but when getting up on the freeway, I pig the pedal and have no issues getting up on the big road! TSB will be done 8/9, can't wait to see the difference.

I have a Taco and a Tundra Pro for towing different loads. I am sensible enough to know what an 8 and a 6 can do, where the torque curves are and how they perform, and how to operate them accordingly. Results for the Taco are far from dismal. Are you saying go to a Ridgeline 6 cyl ? Give me the gas truck at 6 cylinder please to buy that is better than the Taco for pulling.

2016Tacoman is very opinionated but has not backed anything up with first hand knowledge that I have read about
No I am saying read the results from real people in the towing section that have issues towing with the 3.5...dont know why that is so hard for you to understand....did I ever mention Ridgeline?...NO...my original comments were not aimed at the Tacoma specifically...I stated that motors that have to rev high to develop torque are not great for towing....gas truck with 6 cyl that tows great... Ford with 3.5 ecoboost...lots of torque down low where its needed while towing

If the tundra was smaller, I'd get one. If there was v8 option for Tacoma, I'd get it. Unfortunately I need a truck narrower than a tundra for the trails around here and a v8 Tacoma isn't offered

Don't think so, it'd be too heavy up front. Good thought though
