bet most people haven't even noticed this but on my 2016 Tacoma, the front of the headliner where it meets the windshield seems unfinished. It seems Toyota skimped out on this, and if you look at it, it looks like it will have a large potential of fraying in the future. Seems toyota should have put some sort of vinyl or plastic strip here to prevent fraying.. Go take a look and tell me your thoughts

There's a list on this forum of things to check on your new truck. That's not one of them, last time I checked.
Mine should be the same way, but the only way to confirm is for you to take a pic and let others see it, and they can tell you if there's anything to worry about.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

    None...yet
Major manufacturers have been doing that for 20yrs at least. Wouldn't sweat it.

Why would it fray? It isn't like you're walking on it or something.... or are you? Weird sex positions?

I've removed several new tacoma headliners and they are plenty sturdy. The material seems like it will be more durable than a lot of others I've messed with...I've removed thousands. 20160726_073636.jpg

Here is the point I was mentioning, not questioning the strength of the headline, this what looks to be unfinished part seems likely to fray in the future..

Nope, don't see a problem there. Looks like it's bonded to the foam. Unless you're changing your windshield once a week nothing will come in contact with that part of the headliner. Maybe in 10-15 years the glue might start drying up but your truck will be ancient by then, you'll prob be more concerned with just keeping it running.

It won't fray if your not picking at it. If for whatever reason it starts to that's what a warranty is for. Every headliner is like that. They don't wrap them behind anymore. They actually peel more because of that, then being compressed and glued and cut that way. It's nothing to worry about

Just looked at mine. Kind of chincy if you ask me but not a significant issue unless it starts to unbond...like the hood adhesive.

That looks like a convenient place to have wires that you run up the pillar and across the headliner to exit, to each his own but I wish my 2nd Gen had that little cutout for when I installed my dashcam.
