Add A Leaf, how much more capacity?

Got the Toytec Add a leaf springs for the rear.

Website of Toytec doesn't say, but they do say it add extra capacity.

How much more capacity do these leaf lifts add?

 

Everything I've read, including Toytec themselves say the AAL add extra capacity.

Having the Toytec Add-a-leaf does not give you 'permission' to go beyond the manufacturer recommendations of vehicle towing or hauling capacities.

Why? There are many reason why toyota sets those limits and the leaf springs is only one of them. The AXLE itself is another reason ... The axle is what carries everything that you haul or tow. Even though the leaf springs might be able to handle more - but the axle strength would be jeapardized if you go beyond the towing/hauling capabilities of the vehicle.

 

My intention is only to answer a question. That question being how much more capacity does the add a leaf add.

My research indicated that most sellers do definitely say that they do add capacity.

In fact this is the email response from Toytec.........

"They definitely do add carrying capacity but they are not rated per pounds or designed as an overload spring".

My question, once more is how much do they add?

 

If Toytec is telling you *they definately do add carrying capacity*....And I'm not trying to sound rude - Call Toytec and ask them how much they'll add. If they're making claims to it - then they should know the answer.

If they can't tell you - then nobody on this forum can answer you.

The fact of the matter is - you shouldn't go beyond the towing / hauling / carrying capacity set by Toyota.

 

you're not replacing your axle so you won't get an increase in capacity

 

Perhaps Toytec means that it will prevent sagging under load, not necessarily that its adding any capability.

As a few have stated only the manufacturer can certify the capacity. Sometime time for a laugh check the capacity of a car on the door post. I've seen a few with a #785 capacity. That means 4 #200 people would put it over the limit of the car. If I were a cop it would be hilarious to know the capacity and pull the driver over and have them choose who they would have to force out. It's not a joke, think about it, in this sue happy society of you were involved in an accident and you knew that you could say that the driver of the other car was unable to stop the car in time to avoid the accident because they didn't follow manufacturers recommendations.
