    Yesterday! These pictures don't show the huge numbers of butterflies......There were literally THOUSANDS of them in this immediate area. Butterflies need calcium. They will sit and drink water that has pooled on crushed limestone roads. They would swarm clear into the tree tops. This is the O'Bannon Woods State Park, near Leavenworth Indiana. (Named after Thomas O'Bannon, a former Indiana Governor who was raised nearby)

    That is pretty impressive! The monarch butterfly makes a fall migration each year and the Appalachian mountains funnel them from the North through only a few gaps by the thousands. I was only able to hit it once to witness it though.

    Got home for a few hours and decided to run over to the Mississippi River to catch an early supper. Ended up at Slippery's Bar and Restaurant the centerpiece for the movie Grumpy Old Men. Everyone else had the same idea so couldn't get a seat on the balcony over the river. Afterwards I walked around one of the local marinas and caught a glimpse of this guy. Didn't have time to take a proper picture but he puts new meaning into "Viking Cruises"
