I can't believe the butthurt over the ridgeline on this forum. It's probably a perfect truck for most people..... except price.

It's not a real 4X4 off-road, just a wanna be, vs the Taco Jeep etc. Not even in the same league for a spot in the forum, but that's just my humble opinion.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

Wanna be? I don't think the target audience for that truck gives a flip about being a rock crawl king or the next overland youtube sensation. I think Honda designed a truck for the 50 something that is close to retirement, needs some type of truck, but wants something he won't need to worry about repairing. He just wants to haul is fishing boat to the lake, or maybe some bags of soil from Home Depot. He wants to be comfortable on trips.

I'm sure this truck will fit the bill. Honda wasn't building a wanna be, they were building a truck to target a specific audience.... one that has a little cash to spend.

You do know that most Tacoma's are purchased and never see the Off Road, right? Far more 4x2 Tacomas are sold than 4x4.... just sayin'

Speak for yourself. POS 4.0. This car engine makes more power than that "truck" engine

I don't think anyone here is saying the new ridgeline is a "real 4x4 off road." But for the majority of buyers, the ridgeline would be fine. I personally wouldn't be taking a 40k vehicle rock crawling. If I were to be doing any off roading in a new Tacoma, I'm sure the new ridgeline could take on the same tasks.

If I wanted to do some serious off roading I would just take my 16 year old jeep to beat on.

Both the ridgeline and Tacoma are great vehicles, just meant for a different type of buyer or different markets.

I think k what Ausiek2000 meant to say is that a lot of unfounded hate is here for the 3.5 and when the tables get turned...Catch back is biatch??

One more example for you regarding the tow specs....from the TW 3rd gen towing...

Well, the stay at Goose Island was great and the fishing was so-so. After towing around 5,500 pounds for 200+ miles back and forth I've decided to trade-in the Tacoma for a larger truck. It simply doesn't have enough low-end torque for the trips we will be making in the future in the Rockies and other similar terrain. The last 20 miles heading down to Rockport is due south and we had about a 15 MPH headwind. On a perfectly flat road it would not hold 60 MPH without downshifting to 3rd every 1/4 mile or so. We didn't have RVing plans in mind when I bought the truck last year. Oh well, as they say in Louisiana, C'est la vie.

I am sure they did not intend 6800 pound pull in the Rockies, LOL.
Ask yourself do you really think Toyota would advertise something that wasn't with repercussions later of a class action ? I think not.
There are class actions for computer memory that was advertised incorrectly 15 years ago these days.
I think you are stretching the tow specs to include a Mount Everest climb. You did not do your homework.

Do your homework and read the part where it could not maintain 60 mph ON FLAT GROUND...your pushing the 6800 lb tow rating I am disputing it
