What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

The side with the cage has a massive c clip holding it all in.I might be able to remove that though, we'll see. Haven't taken the outer side apart much aside from the one I cut to get home.

 

Replacement intake came in last night, so I pulled out the old aftermarket system with the cracked intake tube and replaced it with the Volant system.



I know the general consensus is that the stock box is the best option, but it has long since been gone, and with an Amazon credit I had been saving this system was less than a used stock box. This system is closest in function to he stock box, providing a semi-closed system and allows the fender well port from the stock box to provide the main source of air, albeit to a larger cone filter.

I also took this opportunity to clean my MAF Sensor and Throttle Body. I was disgusted by the amount of junk I removed from the throttle body after a good scrubbing with an old toothbrush and a microfiber cloth.

Once I completed everything and reconnected the negative terminal I started her back up. While the ECU adjusted to the changes she idled at about 2k RPM for a couple minutes and then after a trip around the block settled back down to a solid 700 RPM while resting, right in the sweet spot. Around town and on the highway I was greeted with noticeably increased throttle response, but I attribute that entirely to the clean Throttle Body and MAF Sensor. Looking forward to seeing if I can squeeze and extra 1/2 MPG out of her.

Next step, how to safely clean/degrease the engine bay?!?!

 

What brand of leaf springs are those and how much lift will they give you? I'm currently researching leaf springs for my rig for replacement. Mine are as flat as a pancake!

So what you're saying is it maintains 3" of lift with 200lbs in it...if not what are the stock leafs rated for? Got me there

Ive noticed that these things seem to look like they stick out more on some trucks than others, not sure why. Im still deciding whether I want one or not, but yours looks good.

Believe the 98-00 Tacoma frame horns are longer. Most bumpers require you to cut off 3" to make them fit.

 

So so I attach extended brake line to existing brake line or?

It looks like you trimmed waaaaay more than others ive been looking at? Aren't those 35s?

 

That and the front ends/grill on 01-04s kinda stick out a bit. More so that the flat 95-97 front end.
