3rd Gen Magnetic Gray Thread

For all reasons! They always look good in all lighting: super bright, evening or night...here is mine with the FN version:

 

one of the best set-ups I've seen yet! might just go with a 16" wheel and same size tires instead of going to a 17"... Bajaxr, any particular reason you went with a 16"?

 

Raised the front 1" , 265/75/r16 Toyo MTs, Method The Standard(modified), Hypertech inline speedometer calibrator, Hid headlights and fogs, AFE cai with front scoop(in the mail)....

 

Really happy with my color choice.

 

They came with the TSS package which is available in the Gulf Coast region (upgrade on the SR5). Will eventually change out the tires (currently BFG Rugged Terrain 265/65r17) for BFG All Terrain or Nitto Terra Grapplers.

 

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth. Terra grapplers are pretty good, last a long time, not great in the rain. I speak from experience and stayed away from them when buying tires for my Tacoma. BFG AT or the General Grabber AT2 are bullet proof options.

Sport package.

Fox coils/shocks in front and shocks in back.
BFGs 285/75/16. No spacers, no rubbing.
Powdered coated 16 OEM OFs.
Better Built back tool box.
OEM bed mat.
OEM rubber floor mats.

OEM mud guards. Little rubbing prior, none after slight heating and a little molding.

K&N 63-9039 intake. Not sure if there are any performance benefits, but it sounds way better!!

 

Just got mine Thursday night. May just leave it stock, it's so awesome as is.

Who am I kidding? I'll probably get the TRD Pro grille when it comes out

Site says it increases horsepower but I wonder by how much. If you cdon't notice the performance I wonder.

I only drove it around my neighborhood after the install. It did feel a little torquier (not sure if that's actually a word) off the line, but I might have just been a little excited lol.

 

Do you think it is worth the cost ?
Would you do it again or need a little time for comparison ?

 

$250 is a little steep, but I do like it so far. I was on the fence between the K&N drop in filter and the intake for a little while, but just said what the hell. Thinking about teaming it up with a magnaflow exhaust as well. I'll let you know more how I like it after a few days.

 

Is the grill just derped? How many coats of derp and glossifier?

 

After driving around for a day, you can definitely notice a little hp boost. The acceleration is noticeably better, and is quite a bit louder (throatier) especially at higher RPMs. I'm really liking it!

 

Hey man, sorry for the late response.. I'm in Europe at the moment.
I went with 16" because my last truck had 16", because factory wheels with my SR5 were 16" wheels and I wasn't sure if going to 17 would affect my mpg's anymore than 16". Probably lame reasons but I'm happy !

Butt-dyno effect, nothing else. Even if it gave you 2HP (which it very likely didn't), there's no way you're going to "feel" a 0.7% power change. Extra noise for your listening pleasure - no other benefits.
