So i just traded in my 05 TRD Sport for a '15 TrD Off Road 6 speed 4x4. I absolutely love it but i'm having a ton of trouble deciding what kind of lift to get with what tires but i think i'm slowly narrowing it down. A friend of mine suggested a "TTHA-CK - Toytec 3" lift kit with Bilstein 5100 Front Coilovers" and then some Total Chaos UCAs . Now the tires are a whole other story of what will and won't fit without or with minimal cutting. Thinking Nitto Trail Grap'sIMG_3470.jpgIMG_3468.jpgIMG_3469.jpg

I don't know about them Nittos....but I highly recommend BFG All Terrain KO2s. Great tire on and off road and lasts many miles (over 50,000 in my experience).

Is this a looks lift or a functional lift?

What are 80% of your driving conditions? (pavement, gravel, mud, etc)

Do you tow or haul anything of significance?

If you are driving a lot off road, are you having problems that are equipment related?

Sorry for the super late response!

•I'm doing it mainly because I like the look of a lifted Tacoma. I'm in college right now at MS State but will be moving to Colorado right after I graduate (end of this school year) therefore I would really like to have a functional lift.

•As of right now, 80% percent of my driving conditions are pavement and gravel.

•Occasionally I tow trailers of furniture and whatnot for moving jobs I do.

•Not having problems with anything, just itching to personalize it.

The kit you mentioned above should be just fine. If you tow, you should probably ditch the add a leaf and go for a full leaf pack like Dakar.

I have the Trail Grapplers on my DCSB and I do mostly pavement driving (more pavement princess than I'd like, but we're working on that!). I'd recommend going with something a bit less aggressive for pavement. Sure, the Trail Graps are great for off road, and still very quiet on road for a M/T or A/T, but you'll get better wear and tread life out of something more designed for the pavement. Right now I'm saving up for a set of 17" wheels so I can get some of the Ridge Grapplers that Nitto just released. Look great and made more for my needs as a DD.

Suggest waiting till you move. Find trails you like, pick parts that make those a better experience. Spacer lifts and lifts that preload the coils to gain lift are nice for parking lot photos.

Do some more reading here. Spend a few more bucks and do it right the first time.

Figure out how you use it 80% of the time, and build for that. If you build for the odd 20, the other 80 won't be nearly as much fun.

If you are going to a snow area in Co., I'd be planning on a second set of wheels that you can put actual winter tires on.
