That sounds about right, without looking at it. Don't crimp wires together doesn't get a good connection. If you can soder them

 

Okay. So ideally i should take both light wires, soder them together, then connect them to the wire running to the relay.
Don't have access to a soder, I know they are cheap but I might try just twisting and plugging into relay wire.

 

Do you have a relay involved somewhere in there?

This isn't entirely accurate.
A crimp or "compression" connection is better in a high vibration environment, solder will make connection too rigid and can break easier. Nothing is 100%
Every connection in your truck is crimped and will last for years (on average)
How well you make the crimp is the real point. Too loose, you have a poor connection, too tight and you'll crush the wire and it will break at the crimp.
The tool used is also key in making good crimp connections.
Save soldering for electronics

 

I've never had an issue with soldering wires together and using soldering wire. Then heat shirking it all. I've done that with all my light and retro fit lights wiring.

Yea there deff two schools of thought there. I've heard every argument with people coming in my work, video, you tube, directions on stuff i get in PC/auto. Just do what you feel comfortable with. Me i will always solder two wires together befor using a butt conector. If is a connection that needs unplugged Ill use a good waterproof one that has wires to solder too. eyelets i cut the plastic off, crimp it then solder it. Use heat shrink. there probally over 300' heat shrink on the Seagull, i was buying it 100' rolls

Yes the wiring switch has a relay. That's what my question was, connecting the two lights to the wire that runs to the relay, so both are controlled with one switch. I may just try twisting them together and crimping. If that doesn't work well then I'll try soder.

 

Yea wire the wires together on to one plug on the relay. A wire from the relay to the fuse then to the battery. A wire for the ground from the relay as well. Then the last wire will go to the switch

 

I prefer crimp butt connectors that have the glue heat shrink on them. It helps to hold the insulation together and keep water out. Best connection in my opinion.

Also waterproof connectors like weatherpack are the best! Crimp them (like they're supposed to be, with the correct tool) so you don't melt the seals trying to solder.

Just put in the "final" order to replace my battery cables and terminals. I'll be installing my new battery and wanted the wiring to be upgraded. 2ga battery to starter, 4ga alternator to fuse block and fuse block to battery.

 

dual battery? Or big 3 upgrade?
