    So still new to this whole Tacoma addiction but I moved to Florida about a year ago and had some friends that always went off roading back home with 4x4.

    I came down here and ended up buying my first Tacoma 2wd. After getting bit by the taco bug my regret is not getting a 4x4 to go on some trails with it.

    After telling tw members in Florida about my regret most had responses like "oh you don't need that down here." or " you'll be fine". Figured it could be different than having a 4x4 from what I was told growing up and the different environment. Didn't think anything of it but then told my Ohio buddies back home about tinkering with some off road/trail stuff and they are convinced I would be dumb to go anywhere but the road with a 2wd.

    So of course I had to ask the experts.. What do you guys think?? Would I be fine or dumb?

    I go off-road not so much the missing non sense but I frequently trail my 2WD Taco and yes I have got stuck. All I can say my friend is bewhere of the fucking sugar sand and have an egress kit, (shovel, 2x4 4x4 etc) know when to use your LSD and traction control and as long as you're not in the dunes on the daily you and your 2 should be fine especially in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, Lena road has some awesome trails, myakka does too, if you ever need some local guidance feel free to reach out, love the quicksand btw.

    You'd be fine but I am so glad I have 4x4 because there are plenty of obstacles that I like to go over that require 4x4. I do wheel with 2wd's and they do fine on the trails here in Florida.

    @Timbo89 @michaelrussell & @Alfuh are a few that are 2wd

    From my personal experience and honest review having a 4x4 and then driving a Tacoma 2wd lifted in the trails even with a set of spare ko2 just for it. It got stuck several times, it's not the same, you can't do nearly as much with the 2wd vs 4x4. Keep it mostly dry and firm terrain and you'll be ok, but that's no fun. Hence why I'm going back to 4x4. Oh and I live in Florida btw. No body flame or get offended lol Just my experiences having owned both 2wd and 4wd vehicles.
