Wonder if you could find lower mounts for the cap racks and a little bit higher single bar for the front.

I called the company and it can be installed under the bars. Just need to flip the mounts on the tube. And he said the spacing I have should present no issues with the overhang.

Don't really want to start adding new racks & bars.

The real bonus of under bar mount is I can still carry a canoe!!! :bananadance:

I like that idea - mounting under and then room for a canoe on top.

I might run into an issue with rear hatch on my cap though....if it's mounted too far back (which I think it may need to in order to clear the plastic casing for the reels on the rear bar) it will interfere and may not allow for full opening.

    Decisions....Decisions

Exactly....it would be like picture 2/5 here:

The price is nice though. I may ask for more detailed measurements and try and mock something up with cardboard to see the impact.

It's too bad that door couldn't swing to the side instead of to the top. hmmmm.

I know the reels are intended to "hang down" in that plastic compartment......but I'm wondering if I just reversed it and made that bulge facing up but still mount under bars??

If I mounted it in center....could still clear my canoe!! :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:

I think I'd still be facing the same issue with the compartment close to my cap hatch......but the side opening would be nice!

I think you have some possibilities with it. I really like this case idea.

Just mounted my tenkara rod in the back of the truck. Used a couple mag light clips and some 3M tape. :D

Funny....I did this mod (it's in the "DIY Frugal Mod" thread) - I hang my rods from those hooks. It's better than laying on the bed, but I'd love to not even have to access my bed.

Did this in mine too. :fistbump:
Yeah, I think these cases are much safer for the rigs and much easier for you as you don't have to break the rod down every time.
Did you see the post where someone made something similar to this case?

    Right on!!!

I didn't see that thread. Can you find it & share? I've seen others where PVC tubing was used - but to be honest they looked kinda cheesy and not easily secured.

    I will look.
I think he did used white PVC but I don't see why you can't use something that is a bit stiffer.
