It's just to much preload for strut to handle. it's only meant to be on 2.5" setting with 2nd gen coil which is lot softer 550lb vs 720lb 3rd gen, plus coil spacer adds even more preload. You can supposedly set on second notch 1.75" with stock coil, and no spacer.

That's pretty sick looking Russ. Yes, I still hit the trails from time to time (wish I did it more though).

    Later.

Mine performs so much better that I ordered my K&N CAI last week. They will not be available for shipping until after mid August for the 3.5. Sorry didn't see you were quoting me.

I got notice today my new speedometer cluster came in. That should eliminate my random trip meter resets.

Yes now that the performance is up to par I don't mind adding the CAI. I would not waste the money when it was sluggish anyway.

    Question for the masses!

Anyone who has removed the front seats, did you disconnect the battery before disconnecting the airbag wire?

Good choice  you will be glad you did. Much better throttle response and it honestly even feels a bit quicker with K&N CAI installed. It is LOUD when you go full throttle but its lots of fun. Pretty quiet and reserved the rest of the time, just has a nice growl similar to a 350z or G35 with similar mods

Update to ecu which apparently changed quite a bit for automatic trucks as far as transmission shift points, and some are even reporting the truck feeling faster while maintaining the same or similar MPGs. Haven't come up with something to fix the crazy overrevving problem many manual tacoma drivers are complaining of yet o_O

Do you think it's better to run the K&N CAI on my taco instead of the TRD intake system that came with my truck?

Not sure about overall 'better' but it is faster and louder. For overall better, I would refer you to the AFE pro 5R or Pro Dry S cold air intake systems for the new taco. But those will run you about 450 with an optional scoop that puts it at about 600 shipped. Totally worth it if you can afford it though, it offers better flow while maintaining a large airbox that even has a built in window so you can see when it needs cleaning. I would think with the optional front grill air scoop added this would be the overall 'best' option.

I took in my Tacoma to get checked because when I drive up my driveway which is maybe the most a 5%upgrade and I stop to correct angle and take my foot off the brake and transfer to the gas pedal, in doing so the truck rolls back just a tad, a crazy noise happens the warning light (triangle shape with a punctuation) in it blinks and the gear shift indicator flashes to put it in park. Anyone else experience it?

Yeah, it's Technical Service Bulletin. Basically it means that there is something they did that was their fault, but isn't urgent enough to warrant putting out a recall.

In the meantime, I just got the TSB done a half hour ago and boy is there a difference! As well as having them switch the blinker to 5 clicks instead of 3, checking the tranny fluid, and doing my 5K checkup/oil change. They didn't charge me for anything and gave me a good car wash to boot!
Can't resist taking pictures of the inferno when it's clean... so gorgeous! 20160801_174901.jpg 20160801_174942.jpg
