I was told at the dealership by the warranty guys that the fluid will expand with heat, so to get a true reading they have to allow to cool when I arrive and then only heat to a certain temp?? Wonder if that is why you noticed more in cooler temps and seems better now in warmer conditions and after it heats up?

It`s been about a week since having the TSP done and I can honestly state that its a big improvement. At first I was not to impressed, but after driving a lot of familiar roads and towing my camper I can really feel the improvements; Quicker shifts, no engagement delay, holds the lower gears for longer, less shifting into and out of 6th gear.
I had a 2010 4Runner before this truck and it had similar shifting issues, but not as pronounced. The new software update is worth a trip to the dealership to have done. I have not any side effects from getting the flash done and the truck tows great for what it is (Mid-size V-6 Pick-up).

I havent noticed that, but I'll pay closer attention. I did notice while doing some very mild off roading on a government dirt road with ruts on Saturday that when in 4lo the transmission shifts hard. Im not sure if it did this before. I had used 4lo prior to the update but never tried making the trans shift.

Alright, took my DCLB TRD OR in for the updated today:

-No resistance from the service department. I walked in and said my cruise control sticks in 4th gear and the truck lurches when I shift into D from a cold start. The guy at the counter wasn't familiar with the TSB but said they would look into it. Just over an hour later it was ready.

-No sticker anywhere to prove it was done.

-Modifications I made via carista (6 flashes for lane change, disable seatbelt alarm) were still present when I got it back. Are those stored on a different chip?

-I took it for a ~150 mile joyride consisting of highway and windy/hilly country roads. Definitely different, but I can't say with 100% certainty it's not a result of resetting the ECU. Definitely feels peppier and definitely is more willing to give up those damn overdrive gears.

-My only real complaint was cruise control getting stuck in 4th gear when cresting hills. I'll be taking a trip at the end of the month where I should be able to put it through its paces...Prior to the update, I drove through Colorado and Utah gritting my teeth as the truck held on to 5th and 6th waaay too long and bogged itself down going uphill, requiring a harsh downshift and 5K on the tach to get up and over, then slapped me in the face by not upshifting when the road leveled out. Made me seriously consider trading for a 2017 F150.

I paid to have it checked because they were giving me the run around so they kept the truck overnight and claimed it was normal. This was many months ago.

I never really had the R to D delay like many reported. Mine just has never been sure-footed when shifting. It feels underpowered ...and I get the dead pedal feeling as well as the delayed Kick Down when you demand power from the truck it takes forever to get down into that gear to put it in the powerband requested.

Sorry Smitty.. I did the tranny check myself and it was 3/4 Liter low... Made a big difference in how it handled from there on..

Hope U get it fixed some how... Personally, I like to do it myself, so I know it's done correctly... I'm a little ANAL. I guess....

I would like to check it too but do not have the tools or space necessary to do it. Also it is typically 105 to 110+ every day through late September here in Phoenix. At some point we have to take the dealer word for it but also hold them accountable when they do not fix things nor live up to their agreements.

I just called the service department of the dealership I bought my truck from and where they had my truck for 2 days because the tyranny fluid was 3/4 of a quart low and they told me they will not do the update unless I have a check engine light on.....these fucks want to make it difficult on me I guess.

You sir are dealing with morons. The check engine light does not come on for these tranny issues. I am sorry the service manager was laid off when K-Mart closed but apparently he don't know shinola about these truck shift issues. No light before TSB and 1000% improvement after TSB. If you have issues then open a case with Corporate so they can educate the morons.
ps-dealer called to tell me my new speedometer cluster came in so I can finally lose the random trip meter resets

Yes but you must be showing the known symptoms such as the P to D or R to D hesitation, etc

Good deal. My truck hesitates from R to P so I think I will be alright.

    Thanks for the input

That was my biggest issue. I also had a slip from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. All fine now.
