Looking into replacing my cooling system before I do this cross country trip. Just wondering in the radiator hoses for an Automatic are the same as the hoses on the Manual. I have the Automatic sadly. And the fan works fine.

Here are the parts that I am thinking about purchasing. Any thoughts, suggestions.

Is it worth getting a thermostat that is a lower temp. such as 170*

All other stuff such as housings are going to be from autozone.

If you're not going to use OEM hoses, the only other brand I'd use would be Gates. They are an OEM manufacturer for many automakers. And I'd stick with an OEM thermostat as well.

Those appear to be Gates hoses, yes. I didn't verify the part numbers, that's on you. But yeah, Gates or OEM Toyota is the way to go. And on the thermostat go OEM and I'm seeing something here in the forum about making sure you line the jiggle valve up at the 6 o'clock position. Good work.

Oh great, thanks for sharing that. I'd always installed them at 12 o'clock on all the vehicles I've owned and worked on. This was the first I'd heard of it at 6 o'clock. I appreciate that. :fistbump:

There's really no reason to get a 170 thermostat. Just replace hoses and stock thermo and fluids you'll be fine
