Drove to work today, glanced at the navigation screen and realized I was in the ocean. It also, for some reason, set my clock back an hour. Turning the truck off and turning it back on didn't reset anything. Anyone had this issue? Hoping it kind of just works itself out while sitting in the parking garage all day and isn't an indicator of a failing head unit.

Sounds like a GPS positioning error. I believe the time displayed on the clock is pulled off of the GPS satellites, so if the unit is showing you in the wrong location it will display the time in the zone that it thinks you're in.

If it doesn't clear up sitting today, you can try removing power from the unit (either pull the battery or the fuse for the head unit), let it sit for a bit to discharge any capacitors, then reapply power. If this doesn't fix it take it in to the dealer.

you can try doing a hard reboot by pressing the power button for about 5 seconds.

Thanks, I'll try that first and then if that doesn't work disconnect the battery for 15 minutes or so.

I got all confused watching myself drive off the freeway into the ocean. Still don't know why the time changed, I live in San diego and the final coordinates are just off the coast. Oh well, can't polish a turd gen, not the end of the world.

Maybe the time changed because the unit/gps thought you crossed a time zone in the ocean

Also, there is a setting for auto-adjusting the clock or manual.

Apparently they want us to congregate at:

    N32°44'7"
    W117°17'42"

    :spy:

....or maybe Toyota's finally tired of my bitching on here and is telling me to just drive it off into the ocean and leave it then.

Haven't had that, but I did have the head unit freeze on me yesterday. Got an incoming text, unit showed the notification, and that was all she sang - unresponsive until I turned the truck off/on.

I've had mine reboot on me while my phone is plugged into USB. I just stopped plugging my phone into the USB.
