Eh? There are too many options throughout your statement to address it properly.
For instance, the OLD 6MT is pretty bad, since the extra gear was thrown in the middle at a useless point (between 3rd and 4th). The *new* 6MT has a double overdrive though, which is a significant improvement.
We are also talking about 4-cyl here, not 6.
Further, claiming better mpg or 0-60 times is meaningless.
Regarding mpg, at what speed? You may look at the EPA numbers, but that doesn't give you the whole picture, because that is snapshot of a specific driving pattern which may not apply. There are points where the V6 will get better mpg with the MT than the AT, for instance, when carrying a heavy load in a situation where the AT would be operating with its torque converter unlocked.
0-60 times are impacted by the skill of the driver, AND, are completely useless. A dump truck, even when empty, will get a terrible 0-60 time, and loaded, even worse, YET, throw 20,000 pounds or more in it and it'll get better 0-60 time than a Tacoma hitched up to the same. What value is the 0-60 time? What does it matter if it will do it in 8 seconds or 8.5? How does that actually benefit you?

I did. Fuel.gov has mpg input from actual drivers. Numbers arent much different between the 2. This is just regular driving, not accounting for additional weight in the bed or towing.

0-60 times and mpgs are all recorded better on the v6 auto. Its easy to look up.

EPA mpgs. Not real per-situation mpg.
And did you bother reading? 0-60 is pointless and irrelevant.
In fact given the same engine, the LOWER 0-60 implies **better gearing**. So where are you trying to go with this?

Fuel.gov has actual user input. Reread.

The original point I was making with the v6 auto is, its more reliable than the manual.

I posted about the mpgs because you stated that the 4 cylinder was significabtly better than the auto. Perhaps you forgot.

As for reliability, you must be new. There is plenty of info on it. Do I need to hold your hand and guide you through it?

What you said was "The original point I was making with the v6 auto is, its more reliable than the manual."

    I said PROVE IT.
You gave a link to FUEL CONSUMPTION.

And NOTHING you read on these forums is valid research data. It doesn't matter that 3 or 4 guys with lifts and extra big wheels without regearing abused their transmissions until they broke. That doesn't mean anything at all in the real world.
