My 2011 actually still looks very good for 103,000 miles of Massachusetts roads and I've never touched it. I'll have to take pictures next time I crawl under it to grease the driveshaft.

 

Mine's not horrible, but the welds were all rusted, plus some rust spots from random rock chips, etc. I've fluid-filmed it every winter that I've had it, but the rust is expanding under the paint and bubbling it. It's nothing that isn't curable, but if I was to buy brand new (or southern used) I could get ahead of the curve.
The frame on the best New England truck doesn't look nearly as good as a just 'average' southern truck after 3-4 years without a fluid film application, is all.

 

How much fluid-film do you guys usually use to coat your frames?

 

I like Nokya bulbs when I can find them. They last forever.

 

I bought the gallon can application kit on Amazon. Was expensive, but I've applied it 3 times now and I've got enough left in the can for this year too.

And holy crap. I paid $85 for mine 3 years ago. They're $150 now.

 

Are you spraying the entire underbody, or just the frame/suspension? I've never had any of my vehicles coated, so I'm not sure what's normal.

 

What is the best white to get in the Nokya for my bumper fogs?

 

The whole underbody, while trying to avoid the exhaust, lol. I figure since I don't climb under there and wash/wax the body panels that they should have some sort of protection.
If you get the kit though, you'll want to swap the nozzle. The one it comes with has a huge orifice and will blow through your gallon in a hurry. I took mine to Lowes or Home Depot and swapped it out for one from a fertilizer sprayer with a narrower orifice. Takes a little longer, but there's a lot less product dripping on the ground (and me) while I'm spraying it and it helps keep from wasting as much.

 

I suppose technically fogs are supposed to be used for poor weather conditions, so colors warmer than white are better for that. I have Nokya Hyper yellow (2500k color temp) in my fogs lamps. I like the white bulbs around the 5000K color temp. I don't like when the headlights start looking blue.

 

Yeah but the white ones come in 35w I hope, don't want to melt a housing

Those guys are much cheaper. I bought my kit from them a while back, they were members on here a while ago also and giving away free samples of Fluid Film.

4300K or lower. I agree with Jason, I'm running 2500K bulbs now and have been for a long time.
