hello guys I'm new here, I have a bone stock 2014 Tacoma DC TRD Off Road, I've looking to get a new lift mainly with the Bilstein 5100 front adjustable shocks. My main questions are... What would be the difference if I reuse the OEM springs VS upgrading to Eibach or EMU springs? would I get the same lift? Txs for your help.

I'm not an expert but if you use the OEM coils you have then the Bilsteins will have to be set on a higher setting to gain the lift.

If you were to buy an aftermarket coil (taller than stock) you could leave the Bilsteins on setting zero and have a better ride while still gaining lift.

I've done neither so I can't really comment from my own personal experience. I do some reading on here though, seems to be the case.

Others will chime in, and WELCOME!!

The 5100 are adjustable. 0, .85, 1.75, and 2.5. You can pre-load the OEM springs to create lift or buy new coils (taller) and set the 5100 @ 0. If you' re going to off road get new coils. If you are mall crawling you can pre-load the OEM's.

nailed it  if you use the stock springs, you raise the clip on the 5100s to gain lift, but increasing preload on the shock, possibly rougher ride. If you go eibach, or OME, the springs are longer, giving the lift, and no preload on the shock. stock offroad springs are not linear, but are progressive, wrapped tighter at one end, and may be rough. sport springs are linear, same spring spacing on the coil. more chimer innners for sure :D

So ive been looking over the headstrong item list marie emailed me and i need a similar question answered. Which in turn might help the OP in the picture i circled 2 different coil springs 1 being the ARB2888 and the hs 3" whats the difference? And also this kit has the aal i dont want that cuz my stock springs are bout shot and i want the full leaf replacements probably dakar since they have been praised so much on here so sounds like a good choice, but would i gain extra heighth with the dakars over the aal? I dont want to be a stink bug runnin around if anything the opposite by a hair. @TYetti. Maybe you could help 2016-08-03_21.22.36.jpg
