I'm waiting for mine to make noise. I have a low transmission from the factory, vibrations, the hood issue, might as well round it out and have the differential go as well.

Exactly. I just want to see Toyota give this the attention it deserves and bite the bullet, issue the recalls or the TSBs that should go out to fix these trucks! Then we can motor on down the highway and be happy about the money we sunk into a product that the manufacturer is willing to back-up 100%.

I usually have the radio on, or I'm just blissfully ignorant. But after reading about the diff noise, I took the truck out for a spin to pay attention, and sure enough.... diff howl at ~55mph.

Right!? I guess my point is, there are blissfully ignorant people like myself that wouldn't notice some of these things until something broke, so I'm sure there are a lot more trucks out there with the issues that simply aren't being reported to Toyota.

Or some that don't think they have any issues, mine didn't howl on the test drive or first 1000 miles, then all of a sudden the "wooooo" monster. I finally got it on video for the service advisor, but the solution seems to be replacing the diff, only for the same thing to happen, which isn't a solution at all, so gonna stand by for now. I knew I should have bought a flipping F150.

Sweeres is a lying marketing hack. Notice him coming out to discuss the issues they've had since production started, root cause, and efforts to correct?

    That's what REAL engineers do.

Toyota could give a shit. They are too busy protecting whats left of their reputation.

Love when people complain about prices. Theory of supply and demand.

Toyota Tacoma at full manufacturing capacity, demand up and sales up, why not soak the sheeple even more.

News flash ... they can get away with it, and will continue, until demand drops and supply sits on the dealers lots, like GM.

Well obviously, duh. But doesn't mean complaints aren't warranted, your not getting any more for your money, I already bought mine, but this may sway some people into other vehicles, at some point the value just isn't there, especially a truck that is having teething issues, and is subpar on a lot of playing fields compared to a full size you can get for the same price after rebates. At some point people will realize its not a freaking golden goose like Toyota thinks.

Like TejasTaco said, Root Cause... we need to hear about it. Without it, we keep throwing parts at problems (well Toyota does, at least until we're out of warranty). Maybe it's a normal characteristic of the truck BUT if that's the case, why did they replace mine and many others to begin with? By the way, I don't think that's really an "acceptable" characteristic. Especially when it starts getting louder at 10k to 12k miles like my original diff did.

Actually with the plateau and soon to be dropping sales of vehicles everything is going to be coming down in price to attempt to move more vehicles. Whether it's rebates or sales.

    My truck is hardly increasing...

7543 TRD SPORT 4X4 DOUBLE CAB MANUAL
    2016: $32,460
    2017: $33,075
    Difference $615 (1.9%)

This seems like an even better price than my 2016 considering inflation and if the rear window slider is in fact standard on TRD models.

I really wanted that option. I hope Toyota makes it so it's an easy upgrade to the '16s

Keep in mind that the prices already went up ~$400 about 3 months ago and the 2017 TRD models work out to about $1k over what the 2016's were when introduced.

They have to make up for the loss they're going to take on all those rear differentials being replaced
