That is my biggest gripe with big crowds. I like 3-4 rigs because you still have the people to help if somebody gets stuck, but getting through the trail is much quicker. Unless it's a super easy trail. Then it doesn't matter because every body can keep up well. I'm slow so when I complain, you know it is bad!
I don't see the appeal of a 2wd truck that you intend on ever taking off pavement. Even when I go snowboarding I have to be in 4wd to not get stuck on ice.

Haha I love cruising new places. Actually prefer slightly easier roads so I can cover more ground. The scenery is what is fun for me.

the t4r in Pismo i rode with. my god. 2wd Long Travel. Going 60 in the dunes was a hell of a rush.

Its the driver, not necessarily the vehicle.

Still nicer to have 4wd. I can't think of a time I thought to myself, "Wow I wish I had 2wd for this." I bet most people with 2wd have wished for 4 at some point though.

Its not the driver on ice thought. I agree 2wd can get by on dirt, but if your back tires are on ice in a pick up, you cannot get traction until your tires slide off the ice.

i doubt most those wheel in CA, or surrounding areas often go to icy conditions. My grandparents lived in a snowed in town and used a Honda Odyssey.

I think you're in a bit of 4x4 defense system. is ok bruh. I went everywhere i do now with my old 2wd silverado.

    I often wish my 4runner was 2wd

Haha I just don't see the appeal. What is the benefit of 2WD? You can drive in 2wd whenever you want in a 4x4.

Not trying to defend it, just don't get it.

Also, aren't odysseys front wheel drive? I meant in a pick up, driving in RWD, 2wd in the snow is dangerous because the back is so light. I always throw rocks in my bed and still had issues when in 2wd.

Building a 2WD long travel system is so so easy it hurts. But I need 4WD

mines full time 4x4. Cannot run in 2wd.

Benefit of 2wd....take a look at Long travel pre runners. More travel, less parts breaking. I drove to tahoe all the time with sand bags in my bed.

Not dealing with CV's or a front diff makes a world of a difference. You can bring the lower control arm mount to the spindle about 6 inches higher which increases ground clearance. It also makes things easier when trying to make the upper and lower arm parallel, which is the most efficient long travel system.

Last minute one here. Waves just popped up on the forecast down south so leaving after work Thursday to go camp and heading back Friday morning before work. My friend is heading down before me to set up camp, I'll likely get there and try and pass out since we'll be getting up at 4 the next morning to start looking for waves. Hopefully there will be a nice sunrise and enough swell to have some fun with for a few hours.

It's definitely an expensive hobby that often rivals the price of new car parts. That and bikes haha
