    Way to much...but not enough.
Got the TSB done this morning, first initial drive back to the office was much smoother. Truck shifted faster, ill be using cruise this evening but I expect it to be much better than before. Everyone needs to get this TSB done, makes the Tacoma feel like a totally different truck.

We've been a few times while staying at the East Asheville KOA. We usually take 40 over to highway 221 and head up to the North end of the gorge. We'll go through the falls and check them out and make our way down to Wiseman's view. We'll hang out around there for a little while and check out the views. Haven't been much past that as we usually don't have a lot of time on these short trips. Sometimes we'll keep going up 221 and get up to Grandfather mountain.

The pic in my signature if from Wiseman's view.

Are the VIN #'s the same on the Canadian TSB? Haven't been able to find a copy of that one posted yet.

Got my app. For Friday for the ECU flash. First they said it was only for the 2g eng. and said mine was the 6g..? So they wouldn't do it. I told him to look up vin# as its on the list. He did and said it was there so he made the app. Hope all goes well as it really needs it because I have all the symptoms listed.

So here's a question that's been answered a 1000 times, how can I tell if mine qualifies? Thawing mine in on the 9th for shifting issues? Thx

Made an appointment for Thursday to get mine done, I don't necessarily have any upshift/downshift issues... but I live in Florida and I'm not really climbing any mountain highways on my daily drives.

If it drives anything close to the ECT function I'll be pleased.

Kinda pissed me off they refused to do it on the weekend because "we don't like to do warranty work on the weekends".

That and symptoms match then yea I'd say the TSB applied to your truck.

Met with the service advisor first thing this morning. He walks up, says "Awesome truck!" and asks me what they can do for me. Tell him it has some weird issues with the transmission and he says "Probably low on fluid and it needs an update performed". They said they had a Tacoma in yesterday that was 1.5 quarts low. Painless as can be. He said two of the managers at the dealership have Tacoma's and found the exact same issues/symptoms. I probably won't get the truck back for a few days because it's having some other repairs done but I'm looking forward to it. Two dealreships over, my 2008 Jetta GLI is getting a replacement DSG gearbox and clutch installed under an extended campaign by VW. Then my 2016 Golf R has been intermittently not going into D! All three vehicles I own have transmission gremlins. haha.

I did ask if he had any in for the weird rumble-strip vibration when slowing and he said no. I also asked about crankshaft position sensors and he said no to that as well. This is a BUSY dealership, so take it with a grain of salt. I think my truck is in good hands.

I have the cruise control issues with my truck so I called made an appointment today. They said I needed to bring the truck in and leave it overnight so they could check the transmission fluid first. I didn't ask thim to check the tranny fluid and I didn't think that was part of the TSB but am glad they are checking it. For the people that have had the TSB done are they checking the transmission fluid too? I can't see anywhere in the document that says to do that.

AutoNation Houston didn't like that I brought the TSB in. They made me wait 4 hours for a 5k and said they couldn't replicate my issue.

Got Wayne the service manager involved and got it done quickly for me. Holds gear longer, Better powerband and almost no 5 to 6 hunting on the highway unless absolutely necessary.

Still no shift issues since TSB. I was a little heavy footed the 1st tank of gas enjoying the better performance. I have noticed going easy on my 2nd tank that mpg's are down by roughly 1 mpg. Wondering if anyone else noticed this. I am 95% in 25-35-45 mph city driving. Still beats my previous trucks. I am not complaining just making a statement. I am staying at the 17.9-18.2 range now where I was getting a solid 19 before the TSB.

Same here, but I think I'm a little more heavy footed than I was before.

Oh it is definitely worth it. Did the fluid top off 1 week before had TSB. No improvement with adding 1 qt atf. Major improvement with TSB. I am very happy and the mpg beat my 2008 Taco V6 by 2-3 mpg and beat my 14 F150 V8 by an easy 5 mpg.

Just received the ECM update this afternoon. My truck feels completely different now. I'm not a mechanic, but I do know that the shift points are now chanced so that the truck doesn't try to cycle through all the gears before hitting 40 mph anymore. I used to HAVE to use ECT to get onto the highway without having to floor the pedal. Now I can put normal pressure on it and the truck moves now without having to go over 3/4 throttle. Like someone posted earlier, the truck does feel like it's in some mode that's like 50% ECT. Really happy with the update.

I haven't noticed it in mine. It sucks that you are still having an issue with the tranny. I'll keep an eye out for it tomorrow morning to see if I experience it.
