So this is my 5th Tacoma, have had them 2wd, AC, lifted, not lifted, want to give my current truck a little lift as I don't want to deal with new UCAs or sink a ton of money into it as I learned is always a waste come time to sell, etc. so thinking 2.5'', would prefer to avoid spacers for personal reasons, thinking OME coils and 5100s. Curious will the 887 coils with 5100s set at 0 clip give me 2 inches of lift or a little more? Anyone else have some recommendations for 2-2.5'' lifts. Thanks gents and ladies.

I believe 887's would be too much especially for the 5100's. I have 885 coils with billies and it added 2-2.5" (didn't measure exactly but it is supposed to give about 2.5) but this is for a 2nd gen so it may be different for the 3rd gen. I don't believe it is recommended to go over 886 with billies

Nope, went with icon coilovers, David at Toytec advised highly against the billies with the 887s as they were not designed for each other.

if bilstein why not 6112? 4th clip gave me 2.5" on my 16 tacoma. see so many 5110/ome coil recommendations and unsure why. i would think a bigger shock with a spring engineered to work together for similar money would be ideal

I think it's the lack of experience since it's a new option not many know long term but or have ran it, but agree seems perfect.

how new? been out over a year i thought? ive had them on my truck for a few months and honestly cant imagine how they could be better other than being adjustable on truck. thats about my only complaint so far. id be more suspect of the 5160 rear braided lines getting eaten by new england salt

I think I would have leaned toward the 6112s with 5160s in the rear if trying to save a few bucks. Icon do sound nice but they're more for high speed (35-45mph) travel on rough terrain right? Are the Kings more suited for lower speed (15 to 30mph) on rough roads? I thought that is how I read it...

If I do lift (**if Toyota ever fixes the rear diff issues) I think I'd stay under 2" to 3" as you are doing too. There's simply no need for 33" tires on this truck as far as I'm concerned. My guess is it will seriously bog down the motor/trans off the line and suck 4 or 5mpg off the fuel economy to roll those kind of meats. On top of that, for what you gain in lift you lose in off-camber stability.

I'm pretty happy with the TRD OR suspension handling and ride comfort on & off road, but if there was a way to IMPROVE ride quality (smooth and softer on AND off road) then I'd be all for it. Concerned the Icon's will stiffen the on-road ride. I don't want that. Perhaps it's just impossible to have both.

A year is hardly enough to validate long term. OME, icon, those have all been used forever with 2nd gen platform
