I went with the N-Fab RKR-Sliders w/ detachable steps. Mostly because my youngest daughter needed steps to get in and out of the truck, but I didn't want to drag them if I decide to off-road. They don't stick out as far as I thought they would, but they work for my purposes.

Any chance you have a write up on this process? Or links to where you bought the line-x? I'm getting ready to buy skids and sliders bare steel and am very interested in using line-x. Not really sure what kind of prep is involved nor how much line-x I should buy, or if it even comes in a spray can or only gallons meaning I'd have to buy a spray gun. Thanks for any help!

You'll have to find a shop to spray them because I don't think you can buy it and do it yourself. I had mine sandblasted before I took them in.

All-Pro has free shipping. That knocks off some pretty good $$$, like a hundred bucks. Didn't they invent the rock slider ?? Man they have to bee some good stuff in that case. Anyway I got those ordered. Maybe it won't take million years to get here. hd-05.jpg

I really like the look of my AllPro's. Got them powder coated with the factory Toyota textured finish (so I get grip as a step). My powder coat place showed me a batch of factory steps they were doing for Toyota.

There's atleast one guy on here I saw using this stuff on sliders: https://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/auto/coatings/truck-bed-coating-spray/

I contacted the local line-x shop and they want $400 to do the sliders and $200 for the skids which is ridiculous. Especially for something that's meant to be beat up anyways. This route would allow for touching it up more easily and on the cheap.

Anyone have a write-up using rustoleum bedliner on sliders and/or skids? @DeTako? I'm curious about the entire process, but especially the prep of bare steel. Thanks in advance!

    Dang! That's crazy, I only paid $150. I don't blame you, I wouldn't pay that either.

Not really. You can drill holes and bolt them on but they won't be very effective.

Seems like a simple thing but there was quite a bit of engineering that went into our bolt on sliders.

None yet but will be going with Mobtown, their bolt-on clamp design is the best I've seen on the market.

Are you guys doing anything to prevent rust between the sliders and the frame? I hit the beach quite a bit during the spring and summer don't want to trap contaminants and moisture between them.

    Undercoating, fluid film, waxall??

Building my own sliders btw here are the back halves of the frame plates I designed. Plates are 3/16" laser cut and cnc bent The circled slotted holes will have 10.9 14mm x 1.5 bolts with 2"x3" 3/16" plates with weld nuts in the inside the frame. The flange on the bottom extends past the frame 2" so that it can be used for the mounting flange for my transfer case, belly and fuel tank skids have planned.

    Step 1: receive sliders
Step 2: take trip to lowes/Home Depot
Step 3: Buy Rustoleum Truck Bed Coating, #3 steel wool, Dawn soap & brush. If your sliders have stickers on them from shipping buy Goof Off and a paint scraper.
Step 4: Use Goof Off & scraper to get stickers off
Step 5: Wash thoroughly with Dawn and brush.
    Step 6: Let dry thoroughly
Step 7: go over with steel wool. Make sure all residue from steel wool is gone.
Step 8, 9, 10: apply a coat of Rustoleum, let it dry, repeat several times.
    Step 11: install sliders
Step 12: enjoy your bad ass sliders.

I didn't take pics of the actual process but here's before & after. They'll be installed tomorrow.
