Bought the 17" TRD Pro SEMA rims. Have an white SR5 DCSB, but without the appearance package, so no fender flares on mine. Seriously considering going with the OR fender flares at later time.

Coming from steel wheels, so already ordered the TPMS for alloys, just to be safe.

A lot of people seem to be going with the 265/70/17 BFG KO2 in the C load rating.

I can't seem to find much information about what size tires will fit these rims. I would like to stay fairly close to stock widths, but a taller wheel than stock and was thinking a 245/75/17 for a 31.5" diameter, just a smidge shorter than the 265/70/17.

Also thinking about something more H/T than the BFG. The Firestone Destination A/T looked like maybe a good in between, but wanted some feedback from others.

Gas mileage is fairly important and 98% of the time i'm on pavement, but I do drive on the beaches, but I usually deflate the tires and have never had an issue.

Is the 245 too narrow for these rims?

You can fit a 245, but just remember, the 4R TRD pro that comes stock with these wheels run a 265/70 tire.

I installed HT tires on mine.

I run the Nitto G2s. It's the same tire for the 4Runner pro that comes with this wheel from the factory.

Current size is 265\70\17 on the stock OR suspension.

How do you like the Nittos? Same ride quality as the stock Goodyears?

@jsinnard Does it look like there is enough clearance for mud guards?

As stan pointed out when these wheels come stock on 4 Runners, Toyota uses 265/70 tires. I'm sure 245s fit, but it may look a bit goofy. I'd go with 265/70/17 BFG KO2 for the aggressive look, which also provides an smooth ride with minimal noise or even Firestone Destination A/Ts and General Grabber AT2 would be a good choice since you're 98% road.

Thats half the reason I wanted the HT was because of the ride and noise, but if the BFG KO2 aren't loud and they're smooth - I will reconsider for sure!

    Hi guys,

Wondering if you can run a 285 70 17 on these TRD Sema Wheels?

    Thanks!

The tires will fit the rim, but your truck will require a lift to fit that tire rim combo.

    I just did this.

I went from stock (which I loved the ride)

    To:

TRD Pro wheels + Geolandar G015 A/T (ride was good, but steering feedback and some tire pull)
TRD Pro wheels + Michelin Defenders (excellent ride quality and low noise. Steering was stiff, but the tires tended to wander and shake on certain roads)
TRD Pro wheels + K02 C load (I would say ride quality is the same s the HT defenders, and same amount of noise. The tires feel a bit more 'substaintial' and very smooth on the highway. I just got these installed, so I will need some time to provide a real feedback.

If you're going 285, I would get the FN FX wheels. They come in 8" width.

Ok, that pushes me over the top. I like the look of the KO2, but ride and noise would drive me nuts.

The local Costco has the 265/70/17 C KO2s for around $203 each and installed, with tax, around $950, which seems like a pretty good deal from what I've seen on a lot of other tire places.

I will also mention that i'm a bit OCD when it comes to tires/noise/vibration, etc.. Probably more so than most folks.

Some people say a 265/70/17 tire will rub with the mudguards, I don't have them so I'm not sure.

Tires actual size may vary between manufactures of tires of the "same size" meaning a 265/70/17 Nitto might be actually smaller than a 265/70/17 KO2 because the KO2 has a more aggressive tread

I think they're a little better than the stock tires. I only have 7k miles on the Nittos but I've been very happy with them so far. We put the stockers on my son's 04.

    And that's the selling line.

Trigger pulled - ordered the BFG KO2 265/70/17 C and they should be at my Costco in the next 5-10 days.

I drove 4 different Tacomas before I got the one I bought. Not much difference in them, other than wind noise and vibrations. Salesman most have thought I was insane. I really wanted the TRD Off Road in white, but had to settle for the steel wheel SR5 without the appearance package and I really like the look of the fender flares. But not as much as I want a quiet and vibration free drive.

I haven't seen many pics on here of the TRD Pro SEMA 17s on a 3rd Gen without fender flares, so I'll be sure to post some once the setup is done.

It looks pretty good J, except what's wrong with your Bed? Looks like somebody stretched out your truck like a big gob of Silly Putty.... Too bad you didn't get the SB. :brianr:
If you don't mind my asking, what did costco charge you for the tires out the door? Will they mount larger than OEM tires now? Back in the day I thought they refused to do this.
