Well I am now furious!!:censored::censored::censored: I took my truck to get it aligned this evening after work. I get it back, drive it home, over the 5 speed bumps that it takes to get to my apartment, and no problems. Decided to head to the store to pick up some beer, go over the second speed bump and BAM, loud noise and almost like a metal grinding sound. I continue to the next and the same thing happens. Decide to go slow over them one tire at a time. I find out that the noise is coming from the drivers side. So I decided to pull up on the curb with that side, and the noise happens once more. When it is slow and going up or down from the curb it sounds like metal is grinding. Of course I will be giving them a call in the morning and taking it back to them. However, any idea what this could be!? I checked the bolts and nuts they are all there. Could they have forgot to tighten it back down after aligning?

How many miles does your truck have? I would get under it and see if any of the alignment bolts are loose. If not, it could be a wheel bearing.

Is it constant or only when the wheel is traveling up or down? Could be a million things I would check the brake shield as mentioned......ball joints, hub bearing, tie rod end, endless possibilities. I would verify all is right at the tie rod end ball joint and brake shield. If other issues then maybe let it be put on a lift

It has, 118k miles. Would it only happen after the alignment?

If you're talking about a wheel bearing, they can go any time, and are a common part to go on second gens.

No way of telling what the tech may have or may not have done. Front end parts should be checked meticulously before he performs the alignment. I would gander to say something was left loose

Ok, got a quick video and snapped some pics.

The sound is almost like a popping now, and happens almost every time i go from reverse to forward once.

Uploaded the video to facebook because I couldn't to here. Looks to me like this could be the problem, possibly they forgot to torque this down? you can see where it use to be.

Could the alignment cam jumping over the tabs if it's not torqued down. The reason you're hearing it on a bump is because the cam is moving with the arm.

That cam bolt is def upside down.

Oh well maybe not. I've just never seen them aligned like that. Usually flipped the other way.

I'm on the LCA is not tight that or there is a tie rod end issue. I would call them first thing in the morning as soon as they open explain the issue and let them make the call to pay for you to have it brought to them on a flat bed or you to drive it and them assume responsibility for the damage that could possibly occur while traveling to their shop. Do not take NO for an answer. This is a laziness issue end of the day tech was tired and didn't check everything issue here

I agree, it for sure is. I just wasn't sure if that was because they had to do that to get it in alignment. Everyone seems to been saying the same thing though. I will take it back tomorrow to have them tighten it down and make sure its still in alignment.

    Exactly.

I'm no expert, but I've never seen a tab upsidedown like that.

Ok, well could someone snap a picture of how it should be for me? Also should I have them flip it tomorrow when I get it fixed?
