What you need to know about lifting a 2016 Tacoma - Presented by Toytec Lifts

If i use a 1 inch toytec rear block, will i achieve 1 inch of lift in the rear or greater than 1 inch? I'm finding mixed results in my research

 

A 1" block under the leaf springs should be 1 inch lift as long as it's not a shim or you're trying to correct for sag.
Coil spring preload spacers and top plate spacers will provide greater lift than the height of the spacer but leaf springs blocks will lift like for like.

 

Thats what i figured but then I've seen these 3/1 lift kits and guy are getting a total of 1 3/4 rear lift. i know a strut spacer will measure 7/8 and give you 2 inches of lift. just trying to confirm thats not the same for that rear blocks.

 

looking to do something very similar.. what width rim and offset? I plan to do the 3/2 kit and want the biggest tire without crazy rubbing.

It's the slimline hybrid bumper from Southern Style Offroad. It looks great and is super solid!

 

curious how much lift i got. anyone know or care to measure their stock truck? after lift im at 23.5" center hub to fender and it looks big but maybe not. truck is a 16 AC MT 4x4. guessing i gained 2-2.5" but it looks higher than that to me.

 

Is that 23.5" equally at each corner? My stock measurements were as follows (per wheel, hub center to fender lip):

FR- 21 1/4
FL- 21
RR- 22 3/4
RL- 22 1/2

 

yes it went to dead even 23.5" on 3 corners and the left rear is .25" lower. i did use a toytec drivers side spacer in the front. curious because rear brake cables seem tight. surprised rear isnt higher, i noticed a slight difference just doing shocks first. figured adding the leafs would've gained more but im happy with how it sits... for now

 

has anybody tried the 5100s at the top setting with stock coils? went to 4 wheel parts and was told that setup works great. i guess this setup gives you 2.5 inch lift in the front. im doing a leaf pack in the rear for 1.5 inch lift.

any comments would be appreciated.

The spring rate on the OEM coil is 712lbs. More then likely it will ride like a brick on the top setting. I know some others here are using certain OME springs combined with their 5100's but I don't believe any are on the top setting. My personal experience with 4WP has never been very good. They are primarily heep guys and are just selling lifts. Not sure I would trust them. But that is my personal experience.

 

4WP sucks. Just order takers with no actual knowledge. As gramps said, stock Springs on top setting of the 5100 will ride terrible. It'll give you lift, other than that, not a great idea

 

Thanks for all the positive comments about 4 Wheel parts. Hehe. So, from what I'm reading though 138 pages, I need OME 884(1") with billies set at 3rd setting (1.5"). Or 888(2.5") at 1st setting (0). And 1.5" leaf pack for the rear. No UCA. Would this setup be my best bet for a level lift?

 

Go 888 and set at zero for the best ride. No UCA to start with. You can always add later if needed. Along with the leaf pack for the rear. Check your PM's when you get a chance.

 

I have a 4 cylinder Access Cab, 885's and 5100's, I think the front end is still a little firm. As far as I know the 4 cylinder weights about the same as the V-6. I'm still at about 2"s of lift after 5,000 miles.

 

You ended up with 885's, but did you ever try the 884's? I'm curious how much lift your got with this vs the 885's?

I only used the 885's didn't try anything else. I will most likely swap them out for the 887's sometime down the road. I got a little more than an 1.5 inch from the 885's. If you saw my truck by itself it does not look lifted. Once it is next to a 2nd gen or another 3rd gen you can tell.

 

Which OEM coil? They're not all the same. Sport vs Off Road vs SR/SR5 are all different, as far as I can tell. Off Road is definitely different because they are progressive wound.

Anyways I just installed a set of TRD Off Road shocks & struts on my SR AC Utility package, along with some Toytec 1/4" spacers to give a tiny little bit of lift...

I got 1.25" of lift from stock OR coils and a 1/4 inch spacer. That's like, 3/4" more than I thought I would get! She's about dead level right now, which I'm a bit baffled by!

 

Thanks for this input my TSS needs this and i can get these parts way cheaper than from Toyota but i just want the 1 inch leveling but he stiff shocks so i can pull my argo i dont like the front end getting loose.
