Thinking I want a leveling kit

So here is my truck. Thinking more and more I want it leveled. What are the best options.


Some particulars:

Small budget
I like a stiffer ride than stock
It has 265/70/17 on stock rims
It does mostly highway

You can ue adjustable shocks like Bilsteins or get a kit from Toytec.

 

Just shocks. Don't need springs or leafs?

 

You can use the factory springs or get aftermarket ones.

 

But if you use your pickup truck for its intended purpose and put something in the bed, it won't be level any more. What a conundrum.

 

Well ya. Use the thing all the time. But when it is unloaded it will be level. Which settings would you set the 5100s at

 

Define "small budget"..... Assign a number to that.

 

$4-500. Ish. Thinking about doing something to the truck since I haven't been doing much to it since I bought my 92 mustang

 

Some people think "small budget" in terms of $100....Some think $1000.

With that to work with, get 5100's, use stock coils if just raising front to one of the first 2 settings. I would NOT preload stock coils to 2.5" setting, but that's me....(I used OME 885X coils) It you want to raise the rear any, use Deavers AAL. That'll keep cost in line with your budget and give good results.

I recently had 265/70r27 Falken AT3/W installed along with the Bilstein adjustable shocks on OEM coils set at 1.75. The truck sits level, but I recently drove to the OBX with a 150qt cooler loaded with just ice. Definitely had some "bro lean" going on. I just started looking at an AAL for the back but I read you need new shocks also, so I'm going to wait a month or two and order them together.

 

So to do this right I should do the 5100s front and back. Springs in front and the sale in back. Over my budget but will have to save more. Why not do it all at once if I am patient. What size springs should I look into. I have a dcsb v6 truck. Stock body no huge bumpers or winched

Plug and play -and enough left over to do an AAL in the back!

 

My setup will get you just under 2" in the front. A 1.5" progressive AAL will bring you back to factory rake and give you enough extra beef to haul heavier loads, like a bike without too much squat in the rear.

I plan to do 5100's all around with the front set @ .85". Then go from there and maybe do progressive add-a-leaf or maybe just 1/2" blocks to add rake. .85" will level my DC or really close.
