Access cab interior room question

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if a 28"L x 20"W x 20"H dog kennel will fit in the back jump seat area of an access cab? I'm still debating if I need a double cab. I'd actual prefer the shorter wheelbase of the access cab. Plus, it opens up more options for off road accessories like sliders.

 

You might get it back there- but I think someone is going to be very comfortable....
Why put the whole kennel back there??

 

ya but in canada you cant get the 4 door with a short bed. im pretty sure

 

We only have the LB option for the DC. As for the kennel, whenever we go on long trips (which seems to be fairly often) the dog and the cat come along. The dog rides up front with us and the cat goes in the kennel during the drive.

i put my hockey bag and my sticks in my acc cab so you should be able to fit a dog kennel in there

 

I have an 05 access cab, I can measure and post up tonight when I get home...unless someone beats me to it...my gut says it will fit.

 

Yeah, that should fit no problem. I don't even think you'd have to move the seat forward to get 20".

ETA: I take that back. Just went out and measured. I have my driver's seat most of the way back, and I would have to move it forward to get 20" between the seat and the back of the back seat. It's still doable though.

You definitely would have to move the seat forward some and keep the front seatback in an upright position to fit a 20" kennel. My dog's crate is 18" wide and it just barely fits with the front seats in a normal driving position.

 

How tall are you? I'm only 5'6" so the seat would not be all the way back.

 

I'm 5'11" and I like the seatback fairly upright anyway, so the 18" crate fits no problem. I could see where the 20" kennel would fit with the seat moved forward some.

 

Thanks. I'd just take the kennel to the dealership and test fit it except that the nearest one is a 5 hour drive each way.

 

i measured my 08 access cab tonight. from the back window to the back of the drive seat at normal position, there's atleast 25" inches there. you'll have plenty of room.

 

So, um... The 05-08 access cabs have more room than the 09+. Need to get measurements from 09+ unless you're looking for used. Also, the JBL package would be out (if available up there) as the subwoofer would eat space. You'd also probably need to remove the center console as well.

(note, the space is the same just, the interior additions consume more space)

 

Thanks for the info. I`d assumed the center console would get in the way. If I go with the AC then I would build a flat platform to fit over top of the seats like in one of the threads that I`ve seen on here.
