That's lightly used Tundra Platinum price range.

    It's unreasonably high.

Doesn't matter, tacoma has superior drum brakes for the ultimate offroad experience! :crapstorm:

so, for the record, my problem with the drum brakes was a rusty cable, after 20 years of service btw. A can of Tri-Flow later and it works just like new again. :D

Drum brakes "work" but Toyota can stop advertising them as an upgrade on a $45k truck. Toyota, you're a cheap bastard, that is the reason, nothing more, nothing less. They could at least say they want to honor automotive heritage and are honoring the model T's drum brake and leaf spring setup.

My first 3 cars had drums all around. They sucked at best. E brakes seemed to work well on all of them though.

A small handful of select mods.
There are reasons that 2nd gen trucks have drums in the rear vs disc. One of those being the rear weight of the 2nd gen truck. I have never seen the drums advertised as an upgrade before. Not sure if that was a stealership thing you saw of if it was direct from Toyota.

They don't want to put the design or technology for advanced braking systems into the Tacoma. Why change it much when it still sells is the usual business thought process. Redesigns are super expensive, hence the half-assed upgrade on the 3rd gen.

    I know... Aka cheap.

And it also will keep me from buying another if there is any other option available when i need a truck...hopefully i won't need a pickup then i can look elsewhere.
