I feel you, man. Every time I get a new suit, I have to get 34 pants and a 42 jacket. The first time I ever ordered one and didn't know any better, I went off my shoulders (42) and they sent an 42 pants, too. I was like, "What the fuck am I supposed to do with these?!"

    Fine...

    Maximum Muscular Potential
How ripped could you get? According to Martin Berkhan's formula, your maximum muscular potential is 200 lbs at 5% body fat. Most people have no desire to be 5% body fat though, so you'd be 210 lbs at 10% body fat & 220 lbs at 15% body fat. These numbers are good goals to aim for if you are bulking up! Motivated to get your dream body? Start here

What exactly would this mean. That healthy at 220 I should be 15%? Or what. My omron has me at 17.7 at 219

I think he's going off an average of what someone at a certain height's "genetic potential" would be at their lowest possible body fat percentage. For instance, at 5'11'', I probably will never see 220 lbs @ 5% bf because my body just won't grow that much muscle naturally. I could be 220 lbs no problem, but I'd probably be around 20% body fat there. To achieve the maximum amount of muscle with the least amount of body fat, the best I could probably hope for, at 5'11'', is probably 200 lbs and single digit body fat.

Martin Berkhan is a pretty smart dude. The only complaint I have about him is it takes him 14 pages of b.s. and explaining to get to a simple point. I usually just skip to the last paragraph and get the info I need lol

Berkhan and Rippletoe (the guy who wrote the book linked at "start here") are both super smart. I am not sure if what @Newlife quoted is actual fact or just part of an ad for the Starting Strength book...

Dang. All the calculators I've used, along with the caliper tests and handheld tests, put me at 194 and ~14% bf right now, so at 10% and 185 (which is my goal), I'd be 165 lbs of non-body-fat-mass. Looks like I've got some growing to do!

Men's Wearhouse in Sterling hates me. I had to get 3 suits this summer - 1 for my wedding, 2 for friends. Jacket is a 52 and waist is a 38. The pants that come with a 52 jacket are a 45 waist...

I think that calculator is assuming total body weight at 5% bf which is calculated due to an average in professional athletes at 5% bf correlated to their height. Theoretically if your max body weight at 5% is 180 then you would be 171lbs dry-lean mass. Me being 6'1, 187 is theoretically my max which is 20 pounds more than I weigh at ~9.5-10% bf.

Ah okay, so I'm getting there. So when I reach my genetic max, I have to start doing steroids, right?

Got my package from bb.com and had one of those "best protein bars" from bpi (it was a 1/3 of a full bar, like a little sample bar) and it was fucking delicious. Smores flavored. I just wish they weren't so expensive

Ya, that chick that was at my gym last week handing out free samples had some of those and I had salted caramel I think and it was freaking awesome. BPI will be my go-to if ON ever shuts its doors or tries to pull some fuckery on their quality or prices.
