@OhioTaco68 and @Aussiek2000 already explained it before you jumped in with your, "OHAI dont accidentally drain your transmission!! LOLOL!! OH, and here is an absolutely worthless 11 minute video of something you could have figured out in 30 seconds! LOLOL...Cheers! #IheartToyota #3rdGenHasNoProblems"

But, in case you need step-by-step instructions so you don't accidentally drain your blinker fluid, here it is:

    1. Remove front skid plate
    2. Locate oil filter cartridge assembly
    a. If you cannot locate oil filter cartridge assembly - STOP. Take your truck to the dealer.
    b. If you were able to locate oil filter cartridge, proceed to step #3
    3. Drain oil from the oil pan.
    4. Use the drain tube provided with the new filter to drain excess oil from cartridge assembly (see picture below).
    5. Use a oil cartridge wrench (strap wrench will also work) to remove oil filter housing.
    6. Replace oil filter and reassemble filter housing by following directions provided with new filter (see picture below).
    7. Make sure oil drain plug and excess cartridge drain plug have been put back in (do not over tighten)
    8. Fill with 0-20W oil to recommended specification (RTFM).
    9. Check undercarriage for leaks.
    10. Reinstall skid plate.

    Instructions from new filter:

    I gave a step-by-step how to. I know, I know...10 steps is a lot to keep up with; I hope I didn't lose you at step #1.

By the way, what have you contributed to this thread other than "dont drain the transmission!"?

I've yet to see him provide anything actually useful in any thread. Instead, he likes to regurgitate stupid and run around dismissing problems people are having with their infallible trucks.

But, I too am having a good time bantering with him. Arguing with idiots is one of my favorite past times.

I use this method. You can check coolant and oil at same time
