My battery finally died, 4Runners must be harder on batteries than Tacomas. It was replaced with an Optima yellow top (wife's 4Runner).

Automotive batteries are not designed for discharge then recharge cycles like a deep cycle marine battery. They do not recover well from a discharge and even one cycle can kill one. On my boat recharge immediately after running the charge down.

My truck has been struggling to start for the last few days. Have been lazy and not cleaning the corrosion that has been building up on the battery. Cleaned it off last night and it was dated 7/13/06.

I am the second owner and bought the truck in 2012, so 10 yrs and almost 97k miles later it has been replaced. Wish I could get that same battery again.

Mine lasted ~7 years. Gave no warning signs at all. Worked great, until it shit the bed.

4yrs 3mos,@ 73K miles 2012 OEM Batt. Although I suspect I may have ended its life a bit sooner than expected, I left a few lights on over several days without noticing until she didn't crank up. Replaced with Duralast Gold.

2008 and the battery is still going strong. In New England as well. Have to say I'm impressed with the thing.
