Nice units! Those are in good shape for the age.

You'd want to have a rebuild kit on hand if you're going to run gasoline through the old stoves. The problem is that it eats the seals, especially this new ethanol sh*t they're marketing as gas.

But, if you rebuild the generators with the dual-fuel kit (which I believe should fit fine) you should be good to go for either Coleman fuel or gasoline.

If you get between a mother and a cub your ass is toast Don't care what kind of bear or get out of your car to go pet a bear because you think it's cute the the bear has full right to eat you on the spot.

Edit: or you get out of the car to grab up a buffalo whose mother let behind you deserve what you get, and the buffalo should not have been shot

Just always make sure to go camping/hiking with someone you don't like much, preferably a sleazy politician of some degree. If you two get chased by a bear, shoot your hiking partner in the leg so the bear has something to keep it busy while you escape. It's a public service, really.

    I remind you:

The National Park Rangers are advising hikers in Glacier National Park and other Rocky Mountain parks to be alert for bears and take extra precautions to avoid an encounter.
They advise park visitors to wear little bells on their clothes so they make noise when hiking. The bell noise allows bears to hear them coming from a distance and not be startled by a hiker accidentally sneaking up on them. This might cause a bear to charge.
Visitors should also carry a pepper spray can just in case a bear is encountered. Spraying the pepper into the air will irritate the bear's sensitive nose and it will run away.
It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for fresh bear scat so you have an idea if bears are in the area. People should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear scat.
Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain small bells and smell of pepper.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. And if you do please don't come to MT or Yellowstone anytime soon.

Been reading the bear conversation, interesting. Started roaming NM forest thirty years ago. Lost track of the bear backsides I have seen going away or the steamy piles. Carry a gun not for bears but in case I run into some more peckerwoods that want to block the trail until they see the 1911. Open carry is accepted here and ok with the law. Woman recently ran into a mother and cubs while doing a marathon. got away with some cuts and bruises. outdated law cost mama her life.

Nice, we expect a full review when it comes in. I've been doing some research on "bushcraft" type knives. I've looked at ESEE, Ontario, Condor and a few others. For less money the Shrade 51m and 52m get favorable reviews. Anyone have any first hand experience with them?

My road trip is in 3 weeks. I am excited. I'm pretty sure I've bought enough new gear to get by.

Better get a leash for your wallet. When & if you go to those, mine has a tendency to put thing into to my cart with me know about it. It's like I'm shopping with a little kid or something.

Looking for a good lightweight down mitten. So far I am looking at a from pair from Mammut. No one has heavy gloves on display this time of year so I need to order some?

Mammut is great brand. Manzella. OR. For your location, I don't know how 'wet' it is, but I'd be sure the fabric was DWR or Gore or some other proprietary waterproof fabric. (None of them are truly waterproof, just have more higher water resistance than others.)
