So i changed my oil for the first time I fucked up and drained most of the transmission fluid and put 6 quarts of engine oil. I drove 2 miles home and noticed I had fucked up and what I had done. I decided it should be safe to drive another 5 miles to the dealer ship and let them handle the problem.i heard nothing on the way there and the gears changed normally I drove very slow and made sure I didn't go past 30 MPH. They put new transmission fluid and changed my oil. I test drove the truck today for about 20 miles and picked it up to about 80 mph. Every thing seems fine sounds as good as new. I'm just really hoping I won't run into problems in the future. I keep beating my self up for fucking up. Can any one tell me if I might have caused any damage or might see problems in the long run?

Part it out. It probably won't run another 100 miles now.

You'll be fine, your cats may have a bit of extra work to do over the next few days but you aren't the first to do that mistake.

Probably not for such a short duration. I'd be more worried about the extra oil you added.

Sounds good. Any thing I can do to make sure the engine is good? I figured if I had damaged something I would have noticed by now. I tested it by accelerating pretty fast and taking the RPMs pretty high it sounded normal and picked up speed like it normally would.

Be careful with that. Somebody is bound to print it out and follow the instructions.

Did you check the oil level on the dipstick as you were adding oil?

Even this 'testing' method, along with your other adventure, is an indicator that you might be well served to find a quality independent mechanic to do your work.

No offense intended. Not everyone is cut out for DIY activity. My uncle is a wonderful guy, and quite well to do, but if adding gas to a lawn mower didn't make it run, he'd put it in the garage and buy a new one.

I'd be more concerned with the extra oil than the low trans fluid.

Draining the transmission pan is 3 quarts; there have be been a few members low that much...

I'd be curious what the pcv line looks like...

How the hell are multiple people on here accidentally draining the transmission? The drain plug for the transmission is ON the transmission. That should be a huge giveaway....not to mention transmission fluid is red.

But yes, the amount of extra oil added is a little concerning, an extra 6 quarts is ridiculous, but if the dealer checked it out and said everything's ok I guess that's all you can go by.

I don't understand, you changed your oil and put 6 qts in engine? But that is the correct amount (6.2 w/tow pkg) how is that overfilled?
Either way, I hope the dealer didn't charge you for it, but even if they did, the important thing is that your transmission warranty didn't get voided.
That's the only thing that would be really bad, but you should be fine and you can add the extended warranty at any time before the 2yr Toyota care or 24k miles expire to easy your mind.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!
