The problem with the regular army pt test is it doesn't care about physical strength and 600-9 was made decades ago so it absolutely sucks balls when it comes to body comp. I used to be the weight management NCO at my last unit in the regular army years ago and honestly there's one way to please those army dumb ass standards. Fasted cardio as often as you can and hardly eat a damn thing. It sucks to say you have to stop thinking about getting gains but for now it's just the way it is. The marines new system figured it out and in sof it's different but for now the army still stuck in thinking the ideal fit is to be light weight and have endurance. With that being said I would recommend fasted cardio at least three mornings a week, and two heavy days in the gym with focus on legs and core.

Same. My wife was a cardio bunny for years and I finally got her to start lifting and she loves it and is much happier with the way she looks. She still has that mindset that the only way you can lose fat is by running, though.

What convinced her was the sprinter v. marathoner pics. Sprinters train similar to football players and powerlifters kinda: isolation movements for explosiveness. Marathoners just run...and run....and run:

Has the Army never seen an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie? Everyone knows elite killing machines are 220+ lbs, above 6', 6% bf, and can bench press a small car:

Wore my Arnold is Numero Uno shirt to the gym today for the first time. The guy who works up there said 'I disagree' when I walked in. I said 'well who is your number one then?' He said 'you are' :humble:

This might be the softest shirt I've ever worn. I think I'm going to retire it from the workout rotation and just keep it for lounging. I also don't want to discolor it (especially the pits) with sweat...

Mine is the slap opposite. My shirt feels like it's made out of paper mache...but it's awesome, so I still rock it.

Also, sounds like your gym worker has a crush on you...

    So did you smash?

I wore that douchey tank you gave me last night when we to downtown. That shirt plus me playing pokemon confused a lot of people.

I have to go back through MEPS so I have to either make tape or weight. My friends joke that I am a Neanderthal. I'm running a few days a week and alternating between interval runs for 30 minutes then longer mileage runs on the weekends. My pt score has gone down since trying to lose weight so I've started push ups again to keep some chest and back muscles. It's dumb there were always ladies the were making weight but honestly couldn't do much. Me on the other hand could pick up and carry pretty much anyone :).

Lifting like I said I stopped I was doing alternating lifting and cardio 6 days a week having dedicated days to specific muscle groups. None of that is going on now because I need my glutes and hip flexor stop be about 2 inches smaller all the way around.

Just talked to a guy in the gym that is 62. Taking growth, currently. Shredded AF. 6' tall and 195 lbs. got him to spot me on my last set of bench and we got to talking. Told him summer is about over so it's time to get big and strong again, and try to hit 170-175 again, so he asked what I weighed. Told him 150. He goes "no offense, but there's no fuckin way. You're lying ." So we went and I hopped on the scale. He goes "damn dude, I would have thought yu were already around 170! You look way bigger than 150!"

I almost went in for a bro hug, but I just met the guy. So we just bro fist bumped instead.
