Tranny fluid is a way different color than used oil should have been the immediate give away.

That and the fact the tranny pan is, you know, next to the transmission....and the engine oil pan is, you know, hanging off the engine.

If this thread is real, I owe @The hammer an apology. Apparently, "dont drain the transmission!" is the most valuable piece of advice you can give 3rd gen owners.

I have seen people mix it up on a transverse setup.

Did you have 12 quarts then in the engine or add oil to the transmission ?

I've always just added my oil where I fill fuel, is this wrong? Drained an refilled my windshield wiper reservoir the other day, its takes blue Kool-Aid correct?

Wait, hold the horses, back up! OP drained tranny fluid and put engine oil in its place? Am I reading that correctly?

Lucky. To much oil can cause serious issues.

No I drained the tranny and put an extra 6 Q of engine oil in the engine. It was drained to were it should be now. I only drove it like 10 miles with the extra oil. The truck is running good now and it was running fine with the extra oil.

Start the apology, there was another member posted before him that did the same thing and blamed it on the beers he had.

I changed my oil twice already and the second time I had to take a second look and realized that someone might confuse the two and I'm sorry that happened to these two.
Moreover, when it starts to drain it can look dark red depending on the lighting conditions you maybe working under, and the engine oil can look dark red.

I don't think so, there will probably be others besides the two we had already, if not in TW world, it will happen in the R/W.

No, He realized it and put engine oil in and drove to the stealership.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

Too much oil can cause aeration around the bearings and premature wear. I doubt you did any damage in 10 miles, though.

Not on old outboards and motorcycles. Although its often advised to mix the oil/gas in a can before putting in the tank.
