Well, Tacoma owners biggest fear, my truck was stolen last night right out of my driveway... Doors locked and alarm on...

Anyways, while the cops look for it is there anything I need to know? Tips for dealing with the insurance company stuff like that. I have USAA and they have always been good to me, but never had a large issue like this. Thanks TW!!!

No major tools but some nice gear. I'm just not sure how to recoup what I have into It from aftermarket parts. Will be a negotiation for sure when settlement time comes either way.

Sorry to hear that man. Really is a Tacoma owner and enthusiasts worst nightmare.

I'm always weary of where I park, ESPECIALLY OVERNIGHT. but in the damn driveway!?!?!?! Damnit

My woman never understands why I say "I don't want it to get stolen"

Post some pics of your truck so that any members in your area can be on the look out.

Your gear and anything else of value that's not bolted onto the truck might possibly be covered by home insurance.

I also use a steering wheel lock, just another security layer.

Thanks everyone. Never considered a better alarm but will 100% be stepping up that game with the truck or next truck!

What kind of alarm? A trick someone once told me, if you have an old cell phone or a second cheap one, leave it hidden in your truck with the gps turned on, then it can be tracked if your ride gets stolen.

Sorry OP, that's my worst nightmare too. I have a dealer installed KARR alarm but if someone wants it badly enough, they'll find a way. Hope it gets recovered and in one piece. Post some pics so we can keep a lookout

Had my motorcycle stolen out of my trailer, locked up and all. was hitting a track day the next morning.

I feel your pain man. It sucks. Stay in touch with your detective if you're assigned one. Also, hopefully you've saved reciepts, etc for all the mods. If not, hit up some vendors or look through sales history/emails to see if you can get invoices. Might help your case for recovering insurance money for aftermarket parts, that's what I did and I got almost all my mod money back.

You could always go get a DUI. thieves don't seem to like to steal cars with interlocks in them.

I posted the pics of your truck up in the Wheeler's Anonymous thread @MojaveMadman, it gets a lot of traffic. Even though your in NM it's not too far away, you never know.

    I'll keep a lookout

Sorry for your loss, that really sucks.

While it's fresh on your mind make a list of all the gear you had in there. Think compartment by compartment - glove box, drivers door pocket, etc. Go through the whole thing. Also write down any other mods or details you can think of. Find receipts, for example if your tires were <6 months old you'll get extra $ for that. It'll all help when it comes time to negotiate with insurance. That's the last thing, insurance companies are motivated to lowball so don't take the first offer - be ready to negotiate.

Just gotta add layers like what tomwil said. The more layers you have, the more it'll slow thieves down. But just remember if thieves want it bad enough, they will take it. My brother's Integra Type R had something similar to that Nightstick called the Auto Taser. It had a 9 volt battery so if it got tampered with, it will give out an electrical shock. In addition to the Auto Taser, he also had a Master Lock steering wheel lock (similar to The Club), brake pedal lock, alarm, plus my Civic parked behind the Type R. The thieves broke into my Civic, cut the steering wheel to remove the Club, moved my Civic out of the way, then they defeated whatever security measures were on the Type R and made off with it, all in the span of a one hour.
