I would be one and the same. I also recently filed a complaint with the FTC.

Yes, and the problems reported (yes, many people do not seem to have them) reinforces my speculation that Toyota had no plans on releasing a Gen 3 until GM/Chevy offered an updated Canyon/Colorado. Toyota realized they had to do something fast or lose market share so they slapped something together, largely based upon the 2nd Gen (new engine, tranny, couple body panels, interior) without fixing some of the key problems the 2nd Gen had.

This is not a bash of 3rd Gen owners - it is a bash of Toyota who did not put much of an effort in - just the bare minimum.

With 6.5k miles on mine, the only thing that is approaching unbearable to deal with is the buzzing vibration in the floor and steering wheel at around 2100 RPM, most notable in 5th or 6th gear. I'd love to say it is a fixable issue but I honestly believe it is a design flaw, either in cabin resonance or engine/exhaust mount design. Perhaps the exhaust system is resonating excessively as well.

The differential howling this early and the rumbling vibration coming to a stop concerns me quite a bit as well.

The other smaller issues like the wind noise and kazoo that shows up once in a while, or my headunit randomly going out once, whatever I can live with those, not a big deal.

I came from an old Ford truck that I sold for $3k. It needed the rear end rebuilt, so i caved and put my money towards a new vehicle, the all reliable tacoma. I wonder how many of us persistently complaining (about legitimate issues) were in the same situation. I honestly expected a bit more for $35k, not in terms of features or comfort, but in terms of major mechanical systems operating correctly and reliably.

At the right RPM on a slight incline my steering wheel feels like an electric toothbrush. Coming to a stop or driving at lower speeds sometimes it feels like I'm going over rumble strips. Driving roughly ~55+ I have to deal with a howling differential now.

I get it, things aren't manufactured perfectly and unforseen issues come up in new designs. I'm ok with that. What I'm not ok with is battling with the dealer who tells me:

    1. The buzzing in the steering wheel is me lugging the engine at 2k+ RPM or I don't feel anything or they all do it (which honestly after driving newer ones on the lot I'm afraid they all really do do it)

    2. The rumble strip vibration coming to a stop is "feeling the road" and my truck hasn't broken in yet at 5k to really tell if there are any problems with it. When will it finally "break in"? When the warranty runs out?

I just expected better from a new Tacoma compared to what I can get from a used truck for a fraction of the price. Maybe I was naive, maybe I sipped a little too much kool-aid but honestly for myself, smitty, etc. we just want the truck we paid for in the condition that Toyota promised it would be in and remain in for the warranty period. Nothing wrong with that....

Then what about the other guys like JoCoQS and aero90 who have issues and in some cases have been on this forum for years?

It doesn't. Not trying put your knickers in a twist. Just trying understand why you would think being from Scottsdale is different or worse than chosen to reside there?

I thought you were the original post who mentioned that I'm from scottsdale and it all makes sense. I agree with you it doesn't make a difference where I live or where I'm from... but I'd like him to explain why he thinks that matters. Obviously he thinks it does.

When somebody pulls the wool over my eyes for $40k you better believe I'm going to make it a full time job squeaking that wheel until it gets oiled.

Again, at the risk of putting your knickers in that twist, do you think this is the best get Toyota's attention? I've seen a load of your posts (hard not to, actually) and you sound legit a lot of the time, however others you sound a little trollish.

I would have dedicated my time to improve my skills and increase my income in other ways rather than posting on a message board continuously that will yield zero results. Do you actually think Toyota is going to contact you on this message board ?

    This.

Chief Engineer "Seatbelt" Mike Sweers admitted on video that they changed things with the 3rd gen's NVH shortly after the GM twins came out to compete with them. I have a feeling they changed more than that last minute and rushed out the 3rd gen.
