I guess I'm in this club too. When I used to drive a wrecker in my late teens/early twenties, I had a car fall on me that I had jacked up to place a dolly under the axle. It was a HEAVY late 30's Chevy with flat tires. Luckily, for me, my head was at the area where the floor goes up to clear the rear end. Knocked the wind out of me and would have split my head in two if it was under the frame or low part of the body. Thankfully, the owner was there to get me out...

We got enough sailboats where I live to make borrowing a set of boat jack stands pretty easy. Thats what I ended up trusting in the end. Rig was rock solid, but I did back up with jacks under the frame (finally) up forward. Always rolling around in the dirt when I'm wrenching

For now it's a lease, he is probably going to buy after it's up. $550 a month for the lease though.

Jesus. That's one expensive lease. Add $170 to that and you've got my mortgage, with taxes and insurance.

No doubt, to buy was about 670 a month if I recall correctly.

Ouch, especially since that's not a car I would put on the road between November and March / April.

That is the new SUV/crossover, he's been waiting 4-6 months for it to get here. He had a Range Rover before this..

Oh... I thought it was something different. I was thinking F-type . Nvm, he should be bitch slapped for buying a stupidly overpriced Ford and I'll hold back my comments on his previous choice of vehicles...

Jag's been owned by Tata Motors since ?2008? and this is a fresh design; it's based on the same platform as the XE which is shared with nothing else. Gone are the bad old days of Ford saying 'here, build a world-class high performance sports touring car on a Mercury platform'

Still stupid money for a car, though.

    I have this:

I went with the aluminum because I don't yet have a garage and it sounded better than carrying a 100 lb jack from the shed out back every time I need to use it. I use a piece of 6x6 to jack up from the trailer hitch, though. Doesn't go high enough to get the wheels off the ground otherwise. I think my jack stands are 3 ton, but I don't remember the brand.

...some of us are the IT department. My work PC mysteriously bypasses the content filter and therefore logs don't exist for it. I say that like it would be frowned upon, but having an unblocked PC is useful for troubleshooting.
